After you catch your breath, descend to Evelyn Lake for lunch with views of peaks over 11,000 feet. Then continue 2 more miles to camp near Vogelsang Lake at 10,300 feet, where you'll see views looking down on Half Dome's summit.

  4. Day 4

    Vogelsang Lake Layover

If you're feeling more energy, try summiting Vogelsang Peak at 11,516 feet. After lunch, you can head to Emeric Lake or just relax around camp. Your last dinner in the high country comes as alpenglow colors the mountains in pink, purple, and rose.

Puzzled as to why this tour is identified as sharing a room when this is a camping trip. Does this mean sharing a tent?

The guest can join the tour as a solo traveler, and will have a tent to himself. There is no single supplement fee for backpacking tours. Vehicles can be parked at Curry Village, and we recommend arriving a bit early.

  • S

    Stephanie

    Asked on June 6th, 2023

I'd like to sign up for this trip as a solo traveller, but the form will not let me. I see that there is only one spot available, so I am not sure what the issue is.

Unfortunately, the High Sierra Loop running July 2-6 is no longer available. We are working to update the website with these changes. Do you have any flexibility with your travel plans? We do have space on our August 7-11 High Sierra Loop backpacking trip!
