Johannesburg to Kruger National Park
The drive south takes you through the Panorama Route, one of those roads that really lives up to the hype. You'll stop at Blyde River Canyon and Bourke's Luck Potholes, then head to God's Window for those views across the forest valleys. After that, you'll continue on to your lodge near Kruger National Park and have dinner with South African specialties.

Kruger National Park
You're heading out early in an open jeep for a full day in Kruger National Park. The focus here is searching for elephants, lions, giraffes, and leopards across the savanna and scrubland. You'll return to the lodge in the evening and have time to relax while taking in the sounds of the bush.

Karongwe Private Game Reserve
Today you'll travel to Karongwe Private Game Reserve in the Greater Kruger area. A researcher from the Endangered Wildlife Trust's Cheetah Range Expansion Project will meet with you to explain their work protecting cheetahs and carnivores. After that session, you'll head out on a wildlife-viewing drive before settling into your lodge or tent.

Karongwe Private Game Reserve
This morning starts before sunrise with coffee, then you head out on a safari drive. You'll return for brunch and have the afternoon to relax on the deck or walk around the grounds. High tea comes later, followed by another safari drive in late afternoon, and you'll finish with a traditional braai dinner.

This morning you can explore Victoria Falls at leisure or join a guided tour if you prefer. Later, you'll visit Painted Dog Conservation headquarters to learn about protecting and rehabilitating endangered African wild dogs. After that, you'll head out on a safari through a private concession next to Hwange National Park.

Landmarks/POIs Painted Dog Conservation Hwange National Park - Day 11
Hwange National Park
You'll do morning and late afternoon safaris through the grasslands of Hwange National Park and Dete Vlei. The goal is tracking elephant and buffalo herds, giraffes, lions, zebras, and African wild dogs. Between safaris, you can relax at the lodge, use the underground hide for photography, or watch wildlife come to the watering hole.

Hwange to Chobe National Park
You'll leave Hwange and head north, crossing from Zimbabwe into Botswana to reach Kasane, the gateway to Chobe National Park. After settling into your lodge, you'll head out on a boat safari along the Chobe River looking for hippos, crocodiles, elephants, and birds while catching the sunset.

Chobe National Park

Chobe to Okavango Delta
A scenic flight takes you into the Okavango Delta's heart. You'll climb into a mokoro, a dugout canoe, and glide along the waterways near your remote camp. After settling into comfortable tents, you have time to explore or swim. Following lunch, you'll go out on a wildlife cruise watching for hippos and elephants, then enjoy a sundowner drink and dinner under the stars.

Chief's Island
Early morning, you'll head out in mokoros through the delta's narrow channels toward Chief's Island in Moremi Game Reserve. A guided bush walk lets you search for giraffes, zebras, lions, kudus, elephants, and hippos while learning about tracks and medicinal plants. Brunch follows, then you have free time to relax or watch for wildlife. After high tea, there's an afternoon boating activity or wildlife drive. The evening brings stargazing and the sounds of the delta.

Chief's Island
You'll have both morning and late afternoon wildlife excursions by boat, foot, or jeep depending on current conditions and water levels. Between outings, you can use the camp amenities, take a swim, or relax with a book on the deck. Keep binoculars handy for spotting passing wildlife.

Landmarks/POIs Chief's Island - Day 17
Okavango Delta to Maun
After an early-morning wildlife excursion, you'll fly to Maun. An expedition member from National Geographic's Okavango Wilderness Project will meet with you to discuss their multi-year biodiversity survey work. You'll watch the documentary 'Into the Okavango' and talk about local conservation efforts. The evening features storytelling and traditional foods with local author Bonty Botumile, who shares her knowledge of the region's cultural heritage while you gather around a fire.
