Asked on March 31st, 2025interested in this package, can u confirm availability
- Intrepid TravelOperator•Written March 2025
All Inca trail permits and Machu Picchu entrance tickets are completely sold out. We are not able to accept any new travelers on this departure. If you are interested in a later date in June or July please let us know and we can take a look for you.

Asked on March 24th, 2023How many luggage or suitcase should I bring as it's 41 days tour? Also can I do laundry there?
- Intrepid TravelOperator•Written March 2023
Most travellers prefer to take a small to medium wheeled suitcase. You'll need to be able to carry your own luggage. Laundry is available at many hotels and towns during this trip, usually costing around 2 USD per Kg.

Asked on December 29th, 2022Do you think it's possibly to go on another trip going from Cartagena and get off in Lima to join your trip there? I'm also interested in getting to Rio for the carnival -24.
- Intrepid TravelOperator•Written December 2022
Sadly, we don't have any trips that specifically link Colombia and Peru. Most of our Colombia trips end in Cartagena, but we do have "Explore Colombia" and "Best of Colombia" that end in Bogota. From there it isn't a far trip to Lima. As for Carnival, we do have our 6-Day "Rio Carnival Experience" trip from Feb 16th - 21st 2023. Sadly this trip cannot be linked with the "South America Highlights" tour as they start around the same time.

Asked on November 12th, 2022Please inform me where this tour begins. I have joined this tour that starts today but I don't know the hotel name or my tour leaders details.
- Intrepid TravelOperator•Written November 2022
We hope that you were able to connect with your group. In your information through your original booking, you should have been given an emergency number for Intrepid's Local Operator.

Asked on April 15th, 2022How much extra would internal flights cost from/between the different parts of South America as stated in the itinerary? Does the tour company book these or give guidance with booking these internal flights? Will there be a guide throughout the whole tour? How much spending money should I allow for extra meals and excursions? What time do you have to arrive for on the first day of the trip? What is the earliest/ latest that you can leave on the last day? Also, I seen that the trail for days 11 to 13 are optional and then on day 14 you can join the group to do the Machu Picchu trail. I would be interested in the train option but joining the group to do the Machu Picchu hike. Is this still an option to do? Finally, how soon do you have to book for the June departure?
- Intrepid TravelOperator•Written April 2022
1. The internal flights included in the itinerary are included in the price. 2. These are booked to fit with your itinerary. As we require your details when confirming your booking, we organise the flights. 3. Yes, there will be a guide throughout the whole tour. There might be a some moments when you have free time. We get diverse travellers so what people want to do might be quite different. Your tour leader will make recommendations on activities for the free time. 4. We recommend taking 25 to 50 USD per day for meals. 5. The tour starts at 6pm on the first day. 6. You can leave at any time on the last day. 7. It could be possible to join the group for the last day of hiking. However, we highly recommend doing the full hike if possible as it is very rewarding to reach Machu Picchu afterwards. 8. There are only 500 Inca trail permits issued for each day by the Peru government. These are selling out very quickly for the departures in June. Therefore, we recommend you book as soon as possible.

Traveler•Written May 2022Is there any boarder restrictions in relation to travelling to, from or through Chile? Will this tour still include San Pedro De Atacama (Chile) or would there be any issues travelling from Santiago in Chile to start the South America Highlights tour, that starts in Lima Peru?
- Intrepid TravelOperator•Written May 2022
Chile has just opened for business but Intrepid isn't currently travelling through. We are anticipating being able to travel through Chile from July onwards. This tour does not currently include San Pedro de Atacama or Chile generally at the moment. Please let us know if you are still interested and we can get a booking underway.
