What people love about Iceland Tours for Couples
- Land of the Northern Lights - 5 days
I just returned back from the Northern Lights 5 day tour, it was fantastic! I did the tour by myself and I would highly recommend it. The accommodations weren't 3 or 4 stars but none the less they were clean and served the purpose. You were in the rooms to sleep and shower, your entire day is consumed with the tour. The second and third night of the tour you are in a cabin in the country and I thought it was absolutely beautiful, there are no TVs but you are so tired after the long days and staying up late to catch the northern lights. There is a restaurant and super market walking distance so you can get meals and snacks. One thing I highly highly recommend is bringing along snacks and some water, the tours are long and they only stop for lunch, I was starving by the time we got back for dinner. The bus was awesome and it comes equipped with Wifi and charging ports for your phones or cameras there are no restrooms but all of the stops pretty much have an area to use the restroom. The guide was good, he talked ALOT, had a lot of insight and information. All around it was a great time!
- 8 Days Northern Lights Exploration
This was an excellent tour - the itinerary was great, we covered so much in a short time. Our guide, Holm, was friendly and knowledgable. We got to see the Aurora on two nights despite challenging weather conditions! Would thoroughly recommend this tour.
- 5 Days Land of Northern Lights
Very nice tour with lots of different interesting things packed in 3 days. The mini bus could be a bit more spacious.
What our customers ask about Romantic Iceland Trips & Honeymoon Packages
What are the most romantic spots and activities for couples in Iceland?
Iceland has so many places where you can share special moments together. You can relax in the warm waters of Sky Lagoon while looking out over Reykjavik's harbor, watch the sun set behind the iconic Kirkjufell Mountain, or take a scenic hike through the colorful mountains of Landmannalaugar. Many couples love visiting the Blue Lagoon, walking along the black sand at Reynisfjara beach, and going whale watching from the town of Dalvik. If you're looking for a romantic place to stay, Hotel Á in Borgarfjörður valley is perfect - it's quiet and peaceful, and you might even see the Northern Lights from your room.
Which areas of Iceland are most recommended for couples?
The South Coast is really special for couples, with beautiful spots like the black sand beaches at Reynisfjara and the ice-filled Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon. The Golden Circle route is great for spending time together, especially at Gullfoss waterfall and the Geysir hot springs. The Snæfellsnes Peninsula is perfect if you want to get away from the crowds - it's like seeing all of Iceland's best features in one area. One traveler told us, "The South Coast was incredibly romantic, especially watching the sunset at Diamond Beach near Jökulsárlón." You'll find nice Fosshotel properties throughout these areas for comfortable stays.
What are the most scenic driving routes for couples in Iceland?
The Ring Road gives you the most romantic road trip experience in Iceland. It's 828 miles long and takes you past amazing landscapes and small, charming villages. You can stop at beautiful places like Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon and the Mývatn Nature Baths. If you have less time, try the Golden Circle - it's 190 miles and includes some really special spots like Gullfoss waterfall and Þingvellir National Park. As one traveler told us, "The drive along the South Coast was incredibly romantic, with countless waterfalls and black sand beaches to explore together."
What's the best time of year for couples to visit Iceland?
If you want to see the Northern Lights together, plan your trip between September and March when temperatures are usually between 41°F and 50°F (5°C to 10°C). Summer, from June through August, gives you 24 hours of daylight for exploring, with temperatures up to 77°F (25°C). Winter can be really cozy - you can warm up in hot springs while surrounded by snow, though you'll have fewer daylight hours. Our travelers say both seasons are great for couples - you can take midnight walks under the summer sun or snuggle up while watching the Northern Lights in winter.
How much should couples budget for an Iceland trip?
Plan to spend about $400-600 per day for a nice trip in Iceland. A good hotel room, like those at Fosshotel, typically costs $200-300 per night. Food for two runs about $100-150 per day, and then you'll need money for activities and getting around. Tours like the Golden Circle usually cost $250-300 per person. One of our travelers said, "While Iceland isn't cheap, the experiences like the Blue Lagoon and glacier hiking were worth every penny for us as a couple."
What unique experiences can couples have in Iceland?
You can share some really special moments in Iceland. Soak together in the Blue Lagoon or Sky Lagoon, go whale watching on a private boat tour in Húsavík, or explore ice caves under Vatnajökull glacier. Fosshótel Mývatn makes a great base for exploring the unique landscape around Lake Mývatn. One of our travelers shared this memory: "Taking a super jeep tour on Langjökull glacier and watching the Northern Lights together were unforgettable romantic moments."
