- JAJudith· June 20th, 2024What a great 5-star trip! Our guide, Martina, was outstanding in every way---knowledgeable, experienced, organized, personable and fun to travel with. She went above and beyond meeting tour members needs . The scenery of Iceland is unique to anyplace else in the world. The GJ Travel Grand Tour of Iceland is a well designed tour that shows you the glorious diversity of this small country. Martina even added a few of her favorite, somewhat hidden, favorites along the way! The hotels were good and the food was exceptional. Beware: breakfast buffets, good lunch stops and multi-course dinners w/ desserts (lava cake, creme brulee) combined with beautiful presentations will destroy any attempt at dieting!Show moreTrip date: May 2024

- ECEd· September 8th, 2017GJ Travel is a travel company that does a bait and switch on the hotel rooms during the tour. On the Grand Tour of Iceland, we were given a list of hotels at the start of the trip and during the trip we were switched 2 nights to a very low-class substitute with even worst food. We were not told of the switch until we reached the substitute hotel and only then became aware of the switch when we could not do anything about it. The reason for the change we were told is that the listed hotels were full and they could not take us. I have been on over 40 foreign trips including a prior trip to Iceland and have never had this happen to me before. Any reputable travel company pays for the rooms to the hotel before the trip to assure rooms for their guests. To make up for this low-class substitution, we got a free dinner in a pizza parlor and lunch at a beach side hamburger stand. I am sure the tour company pocketed the difference between the listed hotels and the cheap substitutes that we were provided. Avoid this tour company if you are going to Iceland!Show moreGJ Travel commented on this reviewDear Ed, Thank you for your feedback. The unexpected change of hotel happened due to the original hotels being fully booked and keeping our reservation on a waiting list. For Day 3, when the first alternative hotel came to place, our general itinerary... Show moreTrip date: August 2017
