What people love about Japan Tours in February
- Japan Winter Classic 11 Day - One Life Adventures
Had an amazing trip! Fast paced but enough free time to explore on your time if you like. Our tour leader Jordan was fantastic—new to the role but super knowledgeable, full of great suggestions, and incredibly friendly. Accommodations were quite nice as well.
- 9 Days Splendid Japan Deluxe with Nagoya(4 star hotels)
We had a great time on this tour, and our tour guide, Kenta and the bus driver were both excellent. A lot of walking on this tour but all in all a great time and a lot of great suggestions for additional sites were very good. They also were able to suggest good ideas for dining.
- 9D Splendid Japan with Nagoya (private 3 star hotel rooms)
This tour was exceptional value and a great fit for the kind of traveller that I am. The included tour days and optional tours did NOT have shopping opportunities, which suits me fine. I'm not one who likes to spend 5 minutes learning about silk production and then one hour shopping for silk goods. There was a lot of free time included in the tour and this is best for travellers who are somewhat self reliant and can navigate public transportation (a bit of a challenge in Japan). The hotels were good and the included breakfasts were very good to excellent. I could manage on two meals a day. Highlights were Nara Park and the optional day to Hiroshima.
What our customers ask about Japan Tours in February 2026
What is the weather like in Japan during February?
Winter temperatures across Japan show distinct regional variations. Tokyo stays relatively mild with daytime temperatures between 2-10°C (35-50°F). The northern island of Hokkaido experiences colder conditions ideal for winter activities and snow sports. Cities like Kyoto and Osaka maintain temperatures from 1-10°C (34-50°F). A TourRadar traveler shared "The weather was perfect for winter activities especially around Mount Fuji and Hakone areas." Travelers should prepare for cold conditions with proper winter clothing especially when visiting multiple regions.
What special winter activities can I experience in Japan during February?
February in Japan opens up distinctive winter experiences. Visitors can watch snow monkeys soaking in steaming hot springs at Jigokudani Monkey Park in Nagano where TourRadar travelers call it "one of the best experiences." The season brings winter light displays across Tokyo traditional ryokan stays with hot spring baths at places like Fuji View Hotel Kawaguchiko and snow-draped views of historic Shirakawa-go village. Ski enthusiasts head to Hakuba which offers 9 resorts 135 lifts and more than 200 runs for winter sports.
What are the special events and festivals happening in Japan during February?

Is February a good time to view Mount Fuji?
The cold clear conditions of February typically provide excellent visibility of Mount Fuji particularly from viewpoints at Kawaguchiko and Arakurayama Sengen Park. The winter air offers better viewing conditions compared to summer months. Yet tour reviews note that "It may not be possible to enjoy the panoramic view of Mount Fuji due to weather conditions" as mountain weather remains unpredictable.
