What people love about Japan Tours in September
- Japan Express – Osaka to Tokyo
The tour provided a tremendous amount of insight into the Japanese culture. Our guide, Mack Moriya, was very knowledgeable and helpful throughout the tour. The visit to Mt. Koya was much more spiritual and impactful than what we had imagined it to be ... a truly great beginning to our week immersed in the Japanese experience. Our tour only had 6 people in it which made the interaction very personal and immediate. A person booking this tour should be prepared for a lot of walking each day and, if you are lucky enough to have Mack as your guide, he will be sure that all of your needs are met and your questions answered. All in all, this was a great experience for us.
- Japan Adventure 13 Day
My first experience with this company: five stars! The activities and accommodationd were high standards and we had a lot of free time as well to do our own things on the side. I was very lucky to have awesome group mates and an amazing guide who was very attentive and outstanding to lead us through all those places and transports. Already two bookings made for future travel with IntroTravel.
- 9D Splendid Japan with Nagoya (private 3 star hotel rooms)
Good deal for the money. The overall pace is okay for people with average walking ability. It’s not for people with disabilities. There quite some stairs to climb at temple and shrines
What our customers ask about Japan Tours in September 2025
What special festivals and events can I experience in Japan during September?
Japan's September calendar features notable celebrations like the Kishiwada Danjiri Festival in Osaka where teams race elaborately decorated wooden floats through narrow streets. The nationwide Tsukimi (Moon Viewing) Festival brings locals and visitors together for evening gatherings especially at Kyoto venues such as Kiyomizu-dera Temple and the Gion district. These autumn festivals mark the beginning of the fall season with traditional moon viewing parties gathering momentum across temple grounds. According to TourRadar travelers "The festivals in September added such a special touch to our trip through Japan."
What are the best places to visit in Japan during September?
September offers comfortable conditions to explore Kyoto's most visited temples including Kinkaku-ji and Fushimi Inari without peak summer crowds. The towering stalks of Arashiyama Bamboo Forest and the slopes of Mount Fuji showcase early signs of autumn. The Dotonbori district in Osaka comes alive in the evening as temperatures cool making it ideal for street food adventures. The Tsutaya Hotel in Tokyo's vibrant Shinjuku district provides easy access to city highlights during this pleasant time of year.
What is the weather like in Japan during September?
Temperatures in September hover between 20-26°C (68-79°F) creating ideal conditions for exploring Japan's outdoor attractions. Both Tokyo and Osaka experience mild weather perfect for walking tours while Kyoto's temperate climate suits temple visits. Hotels like Tokyo Dome Hotel and Hotel Hanshin Osaka serve as comfortable bases during this temperate month.
How crowded are major tourist attractions in Japan during September?
Visitor numbers in September drop significantly compared to peak cherry blossom season or summer months. This means more space to explore popular sites like Fushimi Inari Shrine in Kyoto and Senso-ji Temple in Tokyo. "We loved visiting in September because we could really enjoy places like the Arashiyama Bamboo Forest without the massive crowds you see in spring" shared one TourRadar traveler. The Mercure Kyoto Station and THE GATE HOTEL RYOGOKU offer convenient locations for accessing major sites.
What unique food experiences are available in Japan during September?
September brings seasonal specialties to Japanese tables including prized matsutake mushrooms and new autumn sake releases. Osaka's Dotonbori district serves fresh seasonal seafood while Kyoto restaurants present autumn-inspired kaiseki meals. Hotel Intergate Osaka Umeda puts guests within easy reach of these culinary experiences.

The Hilton Odawara Resort & Spa serves as an ideal base for outdoor adventures.

The traditional gardens at Mitsui Garden Hotel Nagoya Premier showcase this seasonal transformation.
