Best tour companies for Nordic / Scandinavia tours
Arctic Adventures gets solid marks from our travelers for their Laugavegur & Fimmvörðuháls Trek - the food is really good and the guides know exactly what they're doing. Just be aware they've had some recent issues with hut bookings being oversubscribed, so you'll want to confirm your spots well in advance. Expat Explore's Highlights of Scandinavia tour is particularly strong on the guiding front. Their team clearly knows the region inside and out, and travelers tell us they appreciate how smoothly everything runs. The accommodations are reliably comfortable and also well-located. Europamundo offers decent coverage of Scandinavia's main spots, but you might find the schedule a bit uneven. Some of our customers mention having too much free time in certain places, and the local guide quality can vary. They're worth considering if you want a more relaxed pace, but those seeking a packed itinerary might want to look at other options. Among these three, Expat Explore seems to hit the sweet spot between good organization, knowledgeable guides and comfortable travel. Arctic Adventures delivers on the nature experience but watch those booking details, while Europamundo could use some fine-tuning in their daily planning.

When do Nordic routes shine the brightest? In the winter! Soak up Oslo's culture, Stockholm's design scene, and the Northern Lights lighting up the skies above. Scandinavia really comes alive in spring. Our classic capital route through Copenhagen, Stockholm and also Helsinki gets extra special as locals fill sidewalk cafes and markets burst with early produce. The Norway tours get lots of attention in spring when waterfalls roar from melting snow - especially along the Flåm Railway with its panoramic views. Our customers often tell us they love how we mix city visits with nature spots, like seeing Tivoli Gardens in full bloom before heading to the Norwegian fjords. The overnight ferry rides between capitals add an interesting twist that travelers always mention in their feedback.

Active options peak now - you can kayak the Vrango Island coast or hike up Mount Fløyen above Bergen. The Denmark-Norway-Sweden circuit pulls in lots of bookings, combining Copenhagen's waterfront energy, Norway's fjords and also Stockholm's island clusters when conditions are perfect. Many pick our 20-day extended route adding Finnish Lapland and Estonia to make the most of prime summer weather. Our guide Luke gets regular mentions from travelers for bringing local stories and history into focus during these longer summer trips.

- Fall / Autumn 2026
Fall brings rich colors and pleasant weather for exploring. Several popular routes focus on capital cities during this quieter season - you'll find more space at major spots like the Vasa Museum and Suomenlinna fortress. The Copenhagen, Oslo and also Stockholm combination really works in autumn, mixing urban discoveries with train rides through colorful forests. Norway's fjords look extra special with snow starting to dust the peaks while lower slopes show autumn colors. Our travelers regularly mention the seasonal food experiences - from Copenhagen's traditional markets to Swedish restaurants serving fresh forest ingredients.

When people talk about Scandinavia they're usually referring to Denmark Norway and Sweden - the three kingdoms that have been connected for centuries.
The Nordic region is actually bigger including Finland and Iceland too. These countries share so much more than just borders you know - from their cultural roots to those incredible landscapes and they're all really passionate about sustainable living.
What Natural Wonders Can You Visit Beyond the Cities?
Norway's fjords are absolutely breathtaking - places like Geirangerfjord and Sognefjord are actually UNESCO World Heritage sites and you can explore them by cruise ship ferry or these incredibly scenic railways. Then there's Iceland with its national parks Vatnajökull is massive with these incredible glaciers and volcanic landscapes. You can drive there yourself or join a tour and for something really special try staying in one of those traditional Norwegian huts near Kjelsfossen waterfall the views of the fjord are just incredible.
How Do You Get Around the Nordic Countries?
The train network here is really efficient connecting the major cities like Copenhagen Stockholm and Oslo there are even comfortable overnight options. The Oslo to Bergen route is actually Europe's highest train journey and it's absolutely spectacular. If you want to mix things up the ferries between countries are great too running all year between places like Denmark and Norway or Sweden and Finland. You can even take an overnight ferry from Stockholm to Turku which is quite an experience.
What Local Foods Should You Definitely Try?
You absolutely have to try Swedish meatballs or köttbullar as they're called locally - they come with this amazing creamy gravy lingonberry sauce and mashed potatoes you'll find them all over Stockholm. In Bergen the fish market is fantastic for trying Norwegian salmon whether it's smoked or cured. And when you're in Helsinki look for reindeer stew it's this hearty traditional dish that's perfect after a day of exploring. There are these great food tours in places like Bergen where you can explore historic fishing towns and taste traditional salmon right where it comes from.
