Fantastic tour! - many thanks to Wild Sweden and to all those involved in providing such a varied and enjoyable itinerary, to our guide, Christian, and our hosts for our great accommodation and for feeding us so well. I learned so much about Sweden, the Sami community and the challenges they face, the culture and cuisine. Highlights for me were the campfire lunch, the heated lavvus (tents), the husky sled ride and of course seeing the Northern lights out on the frozen lake in Jokkmokk. But what made it all really memorable and special were all the people we met including the other guests in our party, with whom we bonded so closely.

Best tour companies for Sweden tours
Intrepid's Scandinavian tours offer decent value for travelers wanting to explore the region without breaking the bank, though feedback from our customers points to some inconsistencies. The accommodation quality varies between locations, and some travelers mentioned hiccups with luggage transfers during their trips. What really stands out are the tour leaders - particularly Jens, Ugne, Nikolai and also Dushan who've received lots of positive mentions from our TourRadar travelers. They bring solid organizational skills and genuine enthusiasm to their groups, helping smooth over any rough spots that pop up with hotels or scheduling. The pace can be a bit demanding for some folks, but that's fairly typical for tours trying to cover significant ground in Scandinavia. Where the hotels might be basic in certain stops, the guides make up for it by creating those special local moments that stick with you - whether that's finding a hidden café in Copenhagen or knowing exactly when to catch the best light for photos in the Norwegian fjords. Most TourRadar customers tell us they walk away with great memories despite the occasional bumps, largely thanks to those standout guides who know how to handle the practical details while keeping the group's energy up.
Best places to start your Sweden tour
Stockholm is where most people kick off their Swedish adventure - about 25 of our recent travelers started there. Saint Anna Archipelago and Lulea up north are becoming more popular starting points too, and some folks choose Copenhagen or Oslo if they want to see multiple countries. Looking at our booking data, you'll want to lock in your tour around 67 days before you plan to go, especially for summer trips. This gives you enough time to get the dates and hotels you want, though keep in mind some places have pretty simple accommodation. Our customers love how easy it is to get around between cities using public transport - it really opens up your options for exploring. If you're after a more local experience, try coming in May or September; the weather's still nice, there are fewer tourists around and you might score better deals on hotels.

- Winter 2025 / 2026
Winter in Swedish Lapland offers some incredible Northern Lights experiences that our travelers consistently rate highly. The most popular tours combine Aurora hunting with real outdoor activities - you'll drive husky sleds through snowy forests, learn ice fishing basics and meet local Sami reindeer herders. Several tours include nights at the famous ICEHOTEL, where you can try ice sculpting workshops before sleeping in artistically carved ice rooms kept at a steady -5°C. Up in Lulea, visitors love crushing through frozen seas on icebreaker cruises and even swimming among ice floes in special survival suits. Our customers particularly enjoy the mix of guided activities and free time to explore small Arctic towns, with many mentioning how the young guides create a fun group atmosphere despite the cold conditions.

- Spring 2026
Spring tours in Sweden blend city exploration with outdoor activities, as the weather warms into comfortable temperatures. Our Stockholm packages have become a favorite this season, especially since we include those handy 24-hour bus passes letting visitors explore the Vasa Museum, Royal Palace and also Gamla Stan at their own pace. The guided walking tours through Stockholm's historic quarters work especially well with spring's mild weather, and our travelers often tell us how much they enjoy finding hidden gems like the city's narrowest alley while learning local history from our expert guides. Copenhagen serves as a gateway for many spring visitors, who start by exploring Nyhavn's waterfront before taking the scenic ferry crossing to Sweden. The season's moderate climate creates perfect conditions for touring Kronborg Castle and wandering through Jönköping's peaceful lakeside paths. TourRadar customers consistently note how spring visits help them dodge the summer crowds while still enjoying ideal temperatures for both city exploration and countryside walks.

- Summer 2026
Summer opens up Sweden's archipelagos for kayaking and island exploration, with many of our travelers opting for 5-8 day self-guided trips. The Saint Anna region is particularly popular - you'll paddle through mazes of forested islands, spot white-tailed eagles and discover hidden swimming spots. These tours provide top-quality camping gear and let you choose your own route among thousands of islands. Many paddlers love visiting the historic village of Harstena for fresh-baked cinnamon rolls and local seafood. Another summer favorite combines Copenhagen's bike culture with Swedish coastal towns - you'll cycle through Stockholm's Royal National City Park, take ferries to car-free islands and join local guides who show you their favorite fika cafes in places like Alingsas.

- Fall / Autumn 2026
Our Stockholm autumn tours really shine when the summer crowds thin out, letting you blend city discoveries with rich cultural experiences. The city's parks transform with golden colors while you explore landmarks like the Vasa Museum and Royal Palace at an unhurried pace. We include practical 24-hour transport passes and centrally located hotels in our 5-day city packages, making it easy to navigate Stockholm's highlights and hidden corners. Multi-city options connect Copenhagen with Stockholm, taking you through charming historic towns like Örebro, Vadstena and also Linköping along the way. Our customers particularly value those authentic Nordic moments - from wandering Nyhavn's vibrant waterfront to crossing the strait by ferry and exploring medieval fortresses like Kronborg Castle. Local guides weave cultural stories throughout your journey, and we balance structured activities with plenty of time to explore independently between these fascinating Nordic capitals.
