The guide Inga and the driver Victor worked very hard to ensure we were well taken care of at every stage and stop of the journey. Appreciate the micro level planning that was done to make it all seamless. Hotels were largely good, except in Copenhagen where we found the room wanting. Otherwise, places / cities and attractions covered were also good - appreciate we don't have infinite time to cover more attractions in a city. Travel planning between cities was spot on with no overruns and time management for such a large group was also excellent. Apart from the hotel in CPH, the other feedback I have for the tour is regarding the itinerary information itself. I personally didn't know that the tour was progressing onwards to Finland, Estonia etc. There were many others in the tour group who were also not aware. - DFDaniel· July 27th, 2023We paid full price for our tour and because we acknowledged we knew another couple also on the same tour, they place all four of us in a ferry cabin that was SO SMALL with fold down bunk beds, we could not all be in the room at the same time with our overnight backpacks. They enjoyed increasing their profits at the expense of our knowing another couple, and refused to credit both couples for %50 each of the single room we were charged for at the time of booking, well in advance to book individual rooms with the contracted ferry service. Do yourselves a favor, avoid Tour Radar and book directly with Expat Tours. Everyone else on our tour, 45+ people, were shocked at what Tour Radar did (although Tour Radar pointed the finger at Expat Tours). One person on our tour had a full executive suite to himself…..yet the four of us were crammed into what was nothing more than a closet with a tiny shower and toilet.Show moreTrip date: June 2023

For the Scandinavian Escape tour, the overnight ferry accommodation consists of shared cabins with private bathrooms. Even-numbered groups (traveling in pairs) will be accommodated together in the same cabin. Solo travelers will be paired with another traveler of the same gender unless they opt for a single supplement upgrade (subject to availability). The ferry also offers various facilities, including restaurants, lounges, and onboard shops, ensuring a comfortable journey. Regarding buses, all our modern, air-conditioned coaches are equipped with onboard restrooms, though they are intended for emergency use. The tour includes regular stopovers every 2.5-3 hours, allowing travelers to stretch, use restrooms, and grab refreshments. However, exact stop times may vary depending on the route, traffic, and itinerary.

When you sign up for an Expat Explore tour, you are required to secure adequate travel insurance cover for the duration of your trip. If you cannot provide the Expat Explore team with a proof of adequate travel insurance prior to the start of your tour, you will not be permitted to embark on day one. Travel insurance should be as much a part of your travel preparation as packing your camera, sunglasses and passport! Incidents can happen from flight and baggage delays to injuries and sickness. Travel insurance gives you (and us) peace of mind, and, for this reason we make it compulsory for all Expat Explore passengers.

Travelers can choose to leave the tour early. However, since our Tours are sold as a package, we cannot offer any discounts for customers who leave the tour early. Tipping is a normal part of the culture in many countries. We suggest somewhere between £4-£6, €5-€7 or $6-$8 per person per day. Tipping is entirely voluntary. If you take a walking tour with a local guide, tipping these guides at the end of walking tours and excursions is always appreciated, but not expected.

While on the tour, transportation is primarily through our own Coach/Bus. However, there might be times that the group will have to take Public Transport guided by the tour leader but that will also be already part of the package. The only times that a customer will have to pay for their transportation is when they want to explore on their own during Free Days.

Our Tours are tagged as "Active" Tours because we believe the best way to get to the heart and soul of a city is on foot, surrounded by the people and the culture. For this reason, we do walking tours through most of the cities we visit. Many of the cities you visit are vast and old, often with steps and cobblestones. Our walking tours can last up to 3 hours with plenty of opportunities to take photographs and soak up the history of these fascinating places, but you do require a certain level of fitness to enjoy your tour to its fullest. We do not have any tours that specifically target any age group (either younger or older). Traveling with a specific age demographic for the entire group can be arranged with Private Tours.
