7 Days in Sicily, incl. Palermo and Mount Etna
The rich cultural circuit spans 7 cities in 7 days, from Palermo's historical markets to Taormina's ancient Greek theater. Visits include Mount Etna's craters at 1,800 meters, Agrigento's Valley of Temples, and Caccamo's medieval castle, with 6 nights in 4-star hotels.

Palermo Arrival
- Day 2
Palermo & Monreale
Visit Ballaro Market first thing (it's busiest from 7-9 AM). Explore Palermo's Arab-Norman buildings like the Palazzo dei Normanni. Take a quick 30-minute drive to Monreale after lunch. Visit the cathedral late afternoon when sunlight streams through to illuminate its 6,500 square meters of golden mosaics. A recent visitor suggests: "Pack a light scarf - you'll need covered shoulders to enter Monreale's cathedral, and the marble floors can be chilly even in summer."
- Day 3
Cefalù & Caccamo
Take a 1.5-hour coastal drive to Cefalù. Start at the Norman cathedral then climb La Rocca for great views - set aside 45 minutes for this steep walk and wear good shoes. Drive 30 minutes to Caccamo Castle in the afternoon. This impressive Norman fortress sits on a cliff edge. Get there before 5 PM for the best light for photos.
- Day 4
Agrigento
Plan a full day for the Valley of the Temples. Start at opening time (8:30 AM) before it gets too hot - there's very little shade here. The Temple of Concordia is the best-preserved Greek temple you'll find outside Greece. Take a guided tour of the archaeological museum to really understand what you're seeing.
- Day 5
Mount Etna & Taormina
Start your drive to Etna early (2.5 hours from Agrigento). Cable cars begin running at 9 AM and take you up to 2,500m. Bring warm clothes - the summit can be 20°F cooler than ground level. Spend your afternoon in Taormina seeing the Greek Theater and walking corso Umberto. One traveler notes: "Book your Etna tour for the morning - afternoon thunderstorms are common in spring and fall."

7 Days in Sicily, incl. Palermo and Catania
A cultural immersion spans 8 diverse cities over seven days, from Palermo's historic markets to Mount Etna's volcanic trails. The route includes UNESCO-listed Syracuse, baroque Noto, and charming Taormina. Features beach time at Mondello, welcome dinner in Palermo, and expert-guided tours.
- Days 1-3
Palermo & Northern Coast
Arrive in Palermo mid-morning to avoid the city's heavy traffic. Spend your first afternoon at La Vucciria and Ballarò markets. Visit before 2 PM when vendors start closing up. On Day 2, take the 20-minute bus ride to Mondello Beach. You'll want water shoes for the pebbly areas. Get there before 10 AM to find a good spot before locals fill the beach. Take a train to Cefalù on Day 3. Trains run every few hours, but the 9 AM train gives you the most time to explore. From the station, it's a 15-minute walk to the historic center. Bring your beach gear since the town's sandy beach sits right beside the medieval district.
- Day 4
Palermo to Catania
- Day 5
Syracuse & Noto
Start early on this day trip. Take the first bus to Syracuse (1.5 hours) to see the ancient ruins before it gets too hot. A recent visitor shared: "The archaeological park in Syracuse is incredible, but there's zero shade—bring a hat and plenty of water, especially if visiting between June and September."

What people love about 7-day Sicily tours
- Magnificent Sicily, 7 days private tour
The tour was outstanding, highlighting towns and areas of popular interest. Along the way, scenes of those heard and read about came alive in the freshness of the present culture and ancient past. Structures, buildings, open fields, plants and flowers, and tastes exclusive to Sicily broadened the experience for the tourist, not only for those of ancestry tracing footsteps.
- Magical Sicily - 7 Days
Good itinerary Meals were good. (Breakfasts and dinners) Marsala wine tasting was very enjoyable. Bus did not have internet or bathroom Did not know everything would be in two languages. During English explanations, other group would talk loudly which made it difficult to hear. I would pick "English only" tour next time. Hotels were find. Guide was a little disorganized at times. When we got to first hotel to start the tour, no one ever heard of the tour company that we were using. They told us we were at wrong hotel. Turns out our tour company "sold us" to another company and did not tell us. Very confusing. Everyone else on tour received detailed information ahead of time except us.
