We thoroughly enjoyed our cycle tour. Most hotels were comfy and we had great nights out for supper where Antonio Desantis booked when we arrived in a new place. Antonio was a friendly, sincere young man who had a lot of responsibility taking care of us. He was a good cyclist and watched over us like a shepherd his flock. Pierrot, our driver was also very friendly and helpful and kept our precious things safe enroute. They were considerate of our needs and Antonio joined in our evenings when he didn't have to. Our gear was in good condition and overall the cycling was pleasurable. We had 3 days of rain and I became a better cyclist as a result of the people on the trip who were more experienced or familiar with bike tours. We had one cyclist hurt himself on day one but it was through no fault of Antonio's. Just bad weather and slippery surfaces. This has a very sobering effect on the group which was not a bad thing. The two guides handled this injury very well I thought! Our hotels were mostly great. Hotel Albania was our least favourite and we could only access WiFi in the lobby. My husband was not pleased! I also felt there was a lack of washing and drying facilities considering these hotels cater to thousands of cyclists. Too few places to dry our wet gear or wash off the mud. I think Albania was the only place with a drying rack in the corridor. So out of 10 we would give the trip a 9.

Fabrizio absolutely made the tour! He was so wonderful!! We really enjoyed the Arberobello, Ostuni & Matera. Fabrizio went above and beyond the call of duty for many things but in particular by accompanying us to Lecce. We would absolutely recommend Fabrizio.
- Taste of Salento-Authentic Culinary Experience
This was an exceptional tour with quite a difference! I am a 59 year old female from Australia, and I was travelling alone. I had not seen this region in Italy before and was looking for a tour to join. This was the only tour available during the dates I had available - the only issue was that I was the only one booked on the tour!! After some negotiating - the company agreed to run the tour, tailored for me alone!! I was initially reluctant to do a solo tour, but figured it would be the only way I would be able to get around Puglia on my own. This tour went far beyond all expectations I had - from the very moment I met Clara at the station, until saying goodbye to Clara and her husband Emilio when they dropped me off at the station in Lecce. I was accommodated in the most wonderful Masseria (farmhouse) owned by Clara and Emilio. My apartment was brand new consisting of 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen/lounge area and a terrace. It was very comfortable and air conditioned throughout. The Masseria is on 20 hectares of olive trees as well as a variety of fruit trees and an organic vegetable garden. It is very quiet and tranquil. Emilio is the chef - and has a real passion for cooking. The food he prepared was fresh from the garden with an incredible variety of dishes. Twice a day I ate in the restaurant (which is also open to the public) - and each time I ate, I was delighted by the freshness and flavours of the food. Both Clara and Emilio drove me around the entire of Puglia - introducing me to incredible sights from archeological and historical to just about every cave, beach, cove and lake on both sides of Puglia. Nothing at all was a problem for them! The tour was very relaxed - yet I was immersed fully in the experience of seeing and experiencing new sights, activities and food every day! I have been to Italy around 15 times - and this was the BEST experience I have ever had, without doubt!!!! Truly - I cannot recommend this tour enough! I have been back home for 2 days - and I can't wait to get back and do it all over again (which I am planning for next September). A huge thanks to Clara and Emilio (and their two adorable little girls) - you gave so much of yourselves and have touched my heart forever!! Grazie Mille!!!!

How long should I spend exploring Puglia to really get the most out of it?
You'll want at least 7 days to properly experience what Puglia has to offer - that'll give you time to see the main spots like Bari Matera Valle d'Itria Lecce and the beautiful Salento coast. If you can stretch it to 10 or 11 days even better because then you can really dive into some hidden gems like the amazing Castellana Caves and spend evenings trying multi-course dinners in Lecce's historic center.
What local dishes should I definitely try and where's the best place to find them?
You've got to try orecchiette - these little ear-shaped pasta served with turnip tops are everywhere in Puglia especially in local spots around Bari and Lecce. The Pane di Altamura bread is something special too it's got this amazing crust and protected DOP status try it fresh from the bakeries in Altamura with some local olive oil. Burrata's another must-try it's this incredibly creamy mozzarella filled with stracciatella you'll find the best stuff from local cheesemakers in Andria and Putignano. For seafood head to coastal towns like Monopoli and Otranto where you can get super fresh catches done the traditional way - the mixed seafood fry or spaghetti with clams are absolutely delicious.
