I went on the 4 day Amalfi Coast tour in early August 2013. The trip was absolutely wonderful 4 days of dreamy Italian sights, food and Fun! Irene was an amazing tour guide keeping a high level of energy, enthusiasm and passion for Italy going for the four days. The group was nice and intimate with 8 of us in total. Sunning ourselves on boat trips to Capri and Amalfi were my highlights including slurping on Lemoncello spiked granitas. Irene took us to amazing restaurants with good value set menu prices. You will not go hungry on this trip. Thanks again Irene definitely the best organised tour I have even been on!

The tour was very good and enabled us to very easily see the key sights around Naples and the Almafi Coast as part of a longer holiday relaxing on the beach and seeing several sites not covered by the tour. The tour was well organised with interesting fellow travellers and good value for money.

WOW....Doesn't accurately describe my Almalfi coast holiday. I traveled alone and was treated like a Prince! I was privately chauffeured by drivers who were professional expert tour guides. I was placed in either a classy clean Porsche, or Mercedes. Yvonne at Tui bent over backwards answering every inquiry within minutes not hours or days. She was attentive and genuinely concerned answering my pestering concerns and comments. I don't think there is a better tour administrator in the world! I highly recommend using Tui for this trip. Not to mention the wonderful excursions like Pompeii, Capri, Almalfi, Limoncello making, and a private tour of Naples including pizza making which were all absolutely amazing and fun. The only criticism is that the accomodations weren't the best, especially in Maoril and Naples. But otherwise decent and comfortable. As a side note Tui, also extended my trip to Rome which included an enriching private tour of the eternal city and a pleasant rapid train ride back to Naples. In conclusion I really enjoyed this trip and I feel like it was worth the cost. Obviously a shout out to tour radar for providing this worthy option. Do this trip, you won't regret it!

Where to start your Amalfi Coast trip
Most of our travelers start their Amalfi Coast trips from Rome - about 40 of them chose the capital as their jumping-off point. Naples isn't far behind with 33 travelers beginning there, while another 6 tours kick off from Sorrento. Looking at our booking patterns, you'll want to lock in your dates around 3.5 months ahead (that's 109 days), particularly if you're planning a summer visit when spots fill quickly. The smartest way to get around combines private transfers with local ferries - it gives you views and flexibility that our regular travelers really value. Sorrento works well as a home base since you can easily reach both the coastal towns and places like Pompeii. The local SITA buses save money but tend to get packed during busy hours, so catching early morning rides typically means more comfortable trips.

- Winter 2025 / 2026
Winter tours adapt nicely to the quieter season, especially our popular 3-day trips from Rome. You'll get Pompeii almost to yourself and stay in comfortable 4-star Sorrento hotels where dinner's included. Between November and March, we swap the usual Capri boat rides for extra time in Sorrento - perfect for visiting limoncello makers and trying local dishes without rushing. Private tours work really well in winter; our experienced drivers know how to handle any weather and can easily adjust the schedule if it rains.

Spring makes our walking tours come alive as wildflowers pop up along ancient paths and temperatures hit that sweet spot for hiking. The 8-day walking program from San Lazzaro gets booked up fast, with routes ranging from easy 4.5km walks through fragrant lemon groves to proper 13km hikes with mountain panoramas. Our guides pair Pompeii visits with tastings at Vesuvius vineyards and also cooking sessions using fresh spring ingredients from family farms. The Path of the Gods really shines this time of year - you'll get clear Mediterranean views and find fewer people on those old limestone steps to Positano.

Summer's when our boat tours hit their stride, especially those mixing hiking with coastal kayaking. Many guests pick tours that blend active mornings exploring spots like Valle delle Ferriere's unique ecosystem with afternoons swimming at hidden beaches or paddling to quiet coves. Private tours become extra valuable now - you'll skip the crowds with early entry to popular sites and spend afternoons at family agriturismos in the hills. Our multi-day trips split between Sorrento and Capri help you dodge the mainland crowds and include evening boat rides when it's cooler.

- Fall / Autumn 2026
Autumn brings out the best in our food tours, right when grape and olive harvests are happening. Lots of travelers choose walking tours that mix moderate hikes with seasonal activities - one day you're picking lemons for limoncello, the next you're learning traditional pasta making. Private tours take advantage of quiet trails to Ravello's gardens and include long lunches at hillside vineyards. With the sea staying warm through October and summer crowds gone, our combined hiking and kayaking tours become particularly good value. For private tours that go beyond the usual tourist spots, Soleto Travel's guides Gabriella and Mariano consistently receive high marks from TourRadar customers. These local experts adapt the schedule to your interests and handle all the logistics - from picking you up at your hotel to timing visits when places are less crowded. If you prefer organized tours but still want quality time at each stop, Carrani Tours runs a nice option called "Beautiful Amalfi Coast" that includes an interesting deep-dive into local lemon cultivation. Our travelers especially like the selected hotels and the hands-on experience learning about limoncello production. For those who want to get active, there's a combined hiking and kayaking tour that lets you see the coast from totally different angles. The guides Marco Marotta, Matteo and also Renato know exactly where to take you - like hidden coves you can only reach by water and walking paths above the usual tourist routes. They share lots of local knowledge about the geology, flora and culture while keeping the pace comfortable for different fitness levels. What makes this tour an adventure is paddling through sea caves, swimming in secluded spots and hiking paths that most visitors never see. The combination of land and water activities gives you a really complete perspective of how the dramatic coastline was formed and how local communities have adapted to living on these steep slopes over centuries.

What's the best way to get around the Amalfi Coast towns?
Getting around the Amalfi Coast can be a bit tricky with those winding mountain roads. You've got SITA buses running between towns pretty regularly but they do get packed especially in summer - like our travelers found out on the "Walking the Amalfi Coast" tour where that 40-minute ride from Amalfi to Bomerano was quite an adventure! Ferries are really nice if you want those amazing views especially going between Sorrento Amalfi and Positano though schedules change with the seasons. If you want things easier and don't mind spending more private drivers are your best bet - just ask David who loved having a private van on their Naples and Amalfi Coast tour.
Which hidden spots should I check out on the Amalfi Coast?
While everyone heads to Positano Amalfi and Ravello you might want to discover some quieter places like Atrani Praiano and Maiori. Atrani's this lovely little village right next to Amalfi where you can really feel that authentic Italian coastal life without the crowds. Praiano's got these incredible views and amazing food while Maiori gives you the coast's biggest beach with a more laid-back feel. One of our travelers on the "Highlights of Sorrento Capri and Amalfi Coast Private Tour" really loved how peaceful Maiori was compared to the busier spots.
Where can I find natural beauty away from the tourist spots?
The Amalfi Coast's got some incredible natural spots if you know where to look. The "Path of the Gods" is this amazing hiking trail between Bomerano and Positano with views that'll take your breath away - our TourRadar travelers on both the "Hike & Kayak" and "Highlights" tours couldn't stop talking about it. There's this special place called "Valle delle Ferriere" nature reserve where you'll find waterfalls and unique plants growing in their own little microclimate. Taking a boat tour shows you hidden beaches and caves you just can't see from land giving you a whole different perspective.
What local foods should I definitely try?
The food here is something else! You've got to try "Scialatielli" this thick pasta with medieval roots that's especially good in Minori - our "Enchanting Southern Italy" tour guests loved it. Don't miss "Delizia al limone" in Sorrento it's this amazing lemon sponge cake that's just perfect after dinner. "Sfogliatella" is everywhere and once you try this shell-shaped pastry filled with ricotta you'll see why. The seafood's incredible super fresh and local and if you're lucky you might get to experience what our travelers did on the "Highlights" tour - a five-course lunch with wine pairings at a vineyard right on Mount Vesuvius.
