This was my first time in Ladakh, and it certainly won’t be my last. The landscape is unlike anything I’ve ever seen, especially Pangong Lake. The guides were friendly and knowledgeable, explaining the cultural heritage of the region. The hotels were simple but comfortable, and the driver was professional, ensuring smooth travel. One issue i feel lake of ordination.

We have done Everest base camp trek with Guide Ram barakoti from the Sherpa Expedition and Trekking team. I did the 12 days trek the Base camp trek and yet again I can’t begin to explain the beauty of it all. it was quiet and peaceful and very very cold but worth it for all trekkers. I particuler love with all most tea houses of the trek. Even though Basic Tea house accommodation along the way and plenty of opportunities to alter your itinerary to suit your needs This would be my second trip to Nepal after last year's Manaslu circuit trek with the same company. Thankyou Ram for organizing all the trip great again. We are glad that we have a great experience guide and porter for the trip. Looking forward to the upcoming days for more Nepal Journey.

Best places to start your Himalaya Mountains tour
Most Himalayan journeys start from Kathmandu - we've got 77 tours beginning there. You can also kick off from Paro in Bhutan with 11 different departures, New Delhi with 4 options and also Leh with 2 tours. Looking at our booking patterns, it's smart to lock in your trip about 4 months ahead (124 days to be exact), especially if you're aiming for October-November or March-April when conditions are just right and the trails get busy. Our travelers often mention loving spring treks in March-April when rhododendrons paint the hillsides pink, while October-November brings stable weather and local festivals that add something special to the journey. The tea houses along popular routes work well for most people - they're basic but welcoming, offering that perfect mix of comfort and local character. Just remember to build in some rest days; your body needs time to adjust to the altitude for a comfortable trek.

What Makes the Himalayas So Special?
The Himalayas are actually one of Earth's youngest mountain ranges if you can believe it formed by this incredible ongoing collision between Indian and Eurasian plates that's still happening today. They're growing about 0.5-2cm every year which might not sound like much but it's pretty remarkable when you think about it. What's really fascinating is how these mountains house over 15000 glaciers basically serving as Asia's natural water tower and they're so massive they actually influence weather patterns across the globe including those big monsoon systems. And of course there's Everest standing proud at 8848.86 meters making it the highest peak you'll find anywhere on Earth.
What Kind of Local Experiences Can You Join in the Himalayas?
When you're in Kathmandu you can actually learn Thangka painting from local artists it's this beautiful sacred Buddhist art form that tells amazing stories. The food scene is incredible too you can cook traditional Nepali dishes right alongside local families learning those century-old recipes like Dal Bhat which is this really hearty lentil soup. If you're heading to the Everest region don't miss joining a prayer ceremony at Tengboche Monastery it's quite a spiritual experience. For something really authentic try a homestay with a Gurung family in Hemjakot where you'll get to experience their traditional culture and architecture firsthand in the Annapurna region.
Where Are the Best Natural Areas to Explore?
You've got to check out Chitwan National Park in Nepal it's UNESCO listed and for good reason with its incredible wildlife including Bengal tigers and one-horned rhinos. You can explore by jeep canoe or even elephant rides and the birdwatching walks are fantastic. Then there's Sagarmatha National Park home to Everest itself where you might just spot the elusive snow leopard if you're really lucky. The best way to experience these parks is through organized treks with experienced guides who really know their stuff.
Which Hidden Gems Should You Not Miss?
There's this beautiful trek to Tango Monastery near Thimphu in Bhutan takes about 2-3 hours and the 13th-century monastery at the end is absolutely worth it. The Khamsum Yuellay Namgyel Chorten in Punakha Valley is another gem with this lovely hike through rice fields to reach it. For something more challenging but totally worth it head to Mardi Himal Base Camp in Nepal where you'll get these incredible views of Mt Machhapuchhre at 6997m and the whole Annapurna range.
What Local Food Should You Try?
You absolutely need to try Dal Bhat it's this amazing lentil soup that's basically the backbone of Himalayan cuisine you'll find it everywhere especially in those cozy teahouses along trekking routes. Momos are another must-try they're these delicious steamed dumplings filled with veggies or meat that you'll find all over especially in Kathmandu's street food scene. When you're in Kirtipur make sure to sample some authentic Newari cuisine like Choila which is this spicy grilled buffalo meat and wash it down with some Aila their traditional rice wine.
