- WMWilliam· July 18th, 2022This was overall a really well run tour. Our guide Pilli and driver Kumu really put a lot of enthusiasm into the trip and made everyone happy everyday. This is a fast paced tour though with some long driving days - if you travel in winter expect some cold nights so pack a decent sleeping bag. Also winter means shorter days and longer nights, so some times we would be setting up camp in the dark and again departing before sunrise, but this wasnt much of an issue as the tents are good quality and after the first couple of goes you can have it done solo in mere minutes. Food quality on the tour was exceptional given the facilities available (cooking out of the back of a truck) All dietary requirements were met with ease and even after nearly 3 weeks on the road the variety just kept coming! The itinerary mentions having cash, however besides maybe 2 optional activities (wine tasting in SA and 1 game drive option) everything was able to be paid for by card without any surcharges. My only real gripe is with one of the camp sites (ZELDA) which was in utter state of disrepair and we had to ask twice for them to turn on the running water and gas to the showers (Which they only then did for the ladies block). The only other improvement I could suggest would be to stay in hostels in the larger towns like Windhoek and Livingston (like we did in Swakopmund) rather than the camp sites which are miles out of town.Show moreTrip date: June 2022

- KLKerin· December 6th, 2018We had an amazing trip! Being from South Africa, I was sceptical about how good a African safari would be as a big group. It turned out to exceed all expectations; from elephant visiting our tent window one night to swimming on the edge of Vic falls at Devil's Pools... Moyenda (our guide) and Masaai (our driver) were wonderful. They both went far beyond their duties, ensuring we got to see and feel the real African bushels and get to mingle with the locals and villages. Things you can't normally do when going to the big resorts.Show moreAcacia Adventure Holidays commented on this reviewHi Kerin, Thank you for your lovely feedback of your tour. Traveler•Written May 2024When is the best time to visit?
- Acacia Adventure HolidaysOperator•Written May 2024
You can do the tour all year but most people will say the 'best' time is between July and September. By October/ November it is very warm in some areas - above 30 centigrade but you can do the tour anytime.

- Acacia Adventure HolidaysOperator•Written May 2024
We do not have bathroom pictures but they are of basic standard. Typical of the areas and routes of the tour.

Traveler•Written May 2024Are the bathrooms private when booking a twin room or are they shared with the rest of the group?
- Acacia Adventure HolidaysOperator•Written May 2024
If you book the Accommodated tour most rooms have bathroom ensuite, but there may be 2 or 3 nights where you share.

Asked on November 8th, 2023Is it possible to top up an amount to have the room for myself instead of sharing with someone else?
- Acacia Adventure HolidaysOperator•Written November 2023
Single clients are welcome on this tour; accommodation is on a twin share basis so we ask clients to share a twin room with another passenger of the same sex. If we happen to have an odd number of men and women in the group then someone will have a room to themselves, but this is arranged on tour and not promised in advance.
- Acacia Adventure HolidaysOperator•Written November 2023
It is not a matter of money; the reason we cannot promise single rooms in advance is that the properties we use have a limited numbers rooms, almost all rooms are twin so one person taking a single room throughout could mean that we cannot accept a second booking because of lack of rooms available.

Traveler•Written February 2023Since this tour is accommodated, what chores would we be required to do?
- Acacia Adventure HolidaysOperator•Written February 2023
TRANSPORT: 24-seater, self-contained, custom-built MAN vehicle with on-board tables, plug sockets, freezer, water tank, library, safety features and 70-litre individual lockers, mokoro (dugout canoe) 4x4 safari vehicle and river boat.
- Acacia Adventure HolidaysOperator•Written February 2023
Chores/tasks/participation is done on a rotary basis. Meaning that there will be a roster and teams of passengers who will help out on a daily basis. These tasks will change daily. They include Meal Prep (chopping, washing, mixing), Cleaning (sweeping, mopping, wiping of Truck interior), Setting Camp (unpacking, packing, setting of camp equipment: chair, tables, cutlery, condiments etc).

Asked on November 21st, 2017What is the Adventure Pass?
- Acacia Adventure HolidaysOperator•Written November 2017
Every Acacia Overland tour has an Adventure Pass which is paid to your tour leader in Africa at the beginning of the tour (or pre-paid by arrangement prior to your tour). This is separate and in addition to the Tour Price, and covers selected park entries, activities and excursions along the way where payment goes directly to the supplier to ensure local suppliers benefit directly from the income.
