- OSOscar Armando Sosa· October 26th, 2023Whilst the tour was as per itinerary I mistakenly thought that I was fit enough to complete the trekking, so I had to cut it short. The change to the original plan was well managed by the tour guide as well as the help required during the trekking. The experience of getting to know the life of the Karen tribes in the jungle was fantastic, however I mistakenly thought I could meet some of the long neck people in these Karen villages. Important to note that this was not part of this tour.Show moreIntrepid Travel commented on this reviewThank you Oscar for sharing your experience. Whilst we are sorry to hear you were unable to complete the trekking, we are happy to learn that the change of plan was managed well on the ground and you were still able to enjoy the experience of the jungle... - Raluca· September 15th, 2022I felt the hiking part easier than I'd anticipated, but it was still a great hike, first time in my life through the rice fields. My guide Rong went above and beyond to cook, make sure I was comfortable and enjoying everything the trekk had to offer and he also shared with me plenty of his knowledge about the Hilltribe people and about Thai life. The families I stayed with in the villages were very accommodating and nice but the bedsheets were not washed (you could tell there were people sleeping in before me - smell, hair). I don't mind the simple life, the bathrooms or showering with the bucket but I didn't sleep much because of the sheets. I give the tour 4 stars because of it and also I think it would have been a much better experience had I had other travelers during the trek - I was alone in the tour.Show moreIntrepid Travel commented on this reviewThank you for taking the time to leave your review. - Craig· October 19th, 2018Full package from airport pick up to drop off and pre and post accommodation. By the time you add all these up the price paid is reasonable. Chiang Mai hotel used as base is good quality and 5 min walk will get you to most places to see in central Chiang Mai. Its a fair drive to trail head , couple of hours which is broken up with stops for supplies and cave visit. Tour leaves with min of one person so you can book with confidence. Overnight stops on hike and in small compounds aside local villages owned by a family in the village. Basic but comfortable , one even had basic electricity. Food was good quality. If you a keen hiker the hike may not be hard enogh, but thugh challenging in some parts most is straight forward and opportunity for sufficient breaks.Show moreTrip date: October 2018
- PKPaul· April 9th, 2018I enjoyed this relatively short tour. The hotel on the first and last nights wasn't that great, but we didn't spend too much time in it. I wish there had been more people in our group, as there was only one other person on the tour with us.Show moreIntrepid Travel commented on this reviewHi Paul, thanks for taking the time to share your experience with us. - PRPhoebe· January 22nd, 2018The trekking was much shorter and easier than I'd anticipated, but it was still a great hike. My guide went above and beyond to share her knowledge about the Hilltribe people and about Thai life, including their intuitive ways to use what is available. Although I thoroughly enjoyed the trip I do believe it would have been a much better experience had I had a group to go with. I did gain a great insight into Thai culture, however, it wasn't the social, group adventure I thought it would be.Show moreTrip date: January 2018
