Itinerary
- Day 1
Cusco
You'll arrive in Cusco and get settled at your hotel, then have a welcome meeting. The rest of your day is free to check out the ancient Inca capital at your own pace. Head to San Pedro market to see local handicrafts and products, walk past Spanish colonial churches mixed with Inca stone walls, and grab dinner trying traditional or fusion dishes at restaurants around town.

- Day 2
Cusco
After breakfast, the day is yours to explore Cusco however you like. You could visit archaeological sites like Saqsaywaman, Tambomachay, and Qenqo on your own, or sign up for optional activities like a Peruvian cooking class or chocolate-making workshop if those interest you.

- Day 3
Ausangate Trek
Leave your hotel around 4:30 am and drive 3.5 hours through highland scenery to the village of Upis (4,350 m/14,270 ft), where the Ausangate trek starts. You'll meet the muleteers and horses, have breakfast, then start hiking through a valley with llama and alpaca herds. After about 6.5 hours of hiking and lunch at Pampa Rapa, you'll reach the first campsite at Yanacocha (4,650 m/15,250 ft) near a lagoon below Ausangate peak.

Ausangate Trek
Get up for sunrise and breakfast, then keep hiking through blue and turquoise lagoons at the base of Ausangate. You'll climb to a mountain pass at 5,000 m/16,400 ft with views of the Vilcanota range, jagged peaks, and colorful hills. Later, hike to Ananta for lunch, then head uphill to Warmisaya pass (around 5,000 m/16,400 ft) where you can see Rainbow Mountain far off. After descending about 30 minutes, you'll reach the second campsite at Qomercocha (4,680 m/15,350 ft).

Vinicunca (Rainbow Mountain)
After an early breakfast, hike about 1.5 hours up to Vinicunca (Rainbow Mountain) at 5,050 m/16,570 ft and spend roughly 45 minutes taking in the colorful striped rock formations created by different minerals. Head back down and have lunch around 12:30 pm at Ananta, then continue for three hours to reach the next campsite at Ausangate Qocha (4,700 m/15,420 ft).

Palomani Pass
This day's shorter on distance but reaches the trek's highest point. After breakfast, trek to Palomani Pass at 5,130 m/16,830 ft. The tough high-altitude hike pays off with views of a pink lake nestled between colorful mountains and glaciers. You'll descend to a valley for lunch, then hike two more hours to the campsite at Jhampapampa (4,700 m/15,420 ft) where you'll have coca tea, dinner, and rest.

Jhampa Pass
After breakfast, gradually hike uphill to Jhampa Pass at 5,060 m/16,600 ft, the trek's final mountain pass, with views of glaciated peaks straight ahead. It's a two-hour gradual descent from there, passing lakes and watching for alpacas and chinchillas. Reach your last campsite at Ninaparayoq (4,700 m/15,420 ft) for lunch. The afternoon is relaxed since the hardest parts of the trek are done. You'll have dinner and sleep under the Andes sky.

Ninaparayoq to Pacchanta to Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes
Start with coca tea and breakfast, then hike downhill for 2.5 hours to the town of Pacchanta where the trek finishes. Relax in hot springs and have lunch, then say goodbye to your trekking staff. Drive about four hours to Ollantaytambo in the Sacred Valley and walk through the town with cobblestone streets and traditional markets. Have dinner at a local restaurant and try pisco sours to celebrate. Around 7 pm, board the train to Aguas Calientes and check into your hotel.

- Day 9
Machu Picchu
Wake early, have breakfast in Aguas Calientes, and your guide will pick you up around 5:40 am to walk to the bus stop for the zigzag ride up to Machu Picchu. Take a guided tour visiting the House of the Guardian, Intihuatana, Temple of the Sun, Sacred Plaza, and other sites with views of agricultural terraces and mountains. After the tour, spend time exploring on your own including spots like the Inca Bridge. Return by bus to Aguas Calientes, have lunch, then take the train back to Poroy and Cusco, and transfer to your hotel.
