10 Days in Peru, incl. Lima and Machu Picchu
A grand 10-day tour visits 11 destinations across Peru, from Lima's colonial center to Machu Picchu's ancient citadel. Visit Sacred Valley sites like Moray and Maras, then cruise Lake Titicaca's floating islands. Stay at quality hotels like Miramar Lima and enjoy 8 breakfasts, 3 lunches, 2 dinners.
- Days 1-2
Lima & Cusco
Begin in Lima's Miraflores district and explore the colonial center and Plaza Mayor. A visitor shares: "The San Francisco Monastery's catacombs were fascinating, though a bit cramped - go early to avoid crowds." On Day 2, fly to Cusco in the morning. The city sits at 11,152 feet, so take the afternoon to adjust. Many people feel the altitude right away, so rest and try some coca tea.
- Day 3
Sacred Valley
Start at Chinchero before the crowds arrive. See the circular terraces at Moray, then visit the beautiful Maras Salt Mines. A traveler advises: "The salt mines were incredible - bring sun protection and good walking shoes, the terrain is uneven and extremely bright from the white salt." Take the train from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes in the evening.
- Day 4
Machu Picchu
Catch the first bus at 5:30 AM. The lines start early but it's worth it. A recent visitor notes: "Getting there for sunrise was worth the early wake-up. The morning fog clearing over the ruins is magical." If you want to climb Huayna Picchu, book months ahead. The permits go quickly. Consider hiking poles for the descent.

Lake Titicaca Islands
Visit the Uros Islands early before the crowds arrive. Stay overnight with a local family on Amantani Island. A guest recalls: "The homestay was a highlight. Though basic, our host family was incredibly welcoming despite the language barrier." Visit Taquile Island next day. The stone paths are steep but offer great views.

10 Day Peru Itinerary, incl. Lima and Machu Picchu
The wilderness of Peru comes alive in this 10-day tour covering 11 destinations. Highlights include 2 nights in Tambopata National Reserve, 4-day Inca Trail trek to Machu Picchu, visits to Ollantaytambo and Pisac ruins, and exclusive access to Cusco Planetarium. Includes 9 breakfasts, 6 lunches, and 5 dinners.
- Day 1
Lima
Your Peru adventure starts in Lima. Take time to adjust to the altitude and rest from your flight. "Pre-tour communications were great - fast and clear," shared a recent visitor. Plan afternoon activities to stay awake and beat jet lag. The best time for cooking classes is late morning around 10 AM when local markets are busy.
- Days 2-3
Amazon Rainforest
Take a 2.5-hour flight to Puerto Maldonado followed by a 2-3 hour boat ride to your jungle lodge in Tambopata National Reserve. Pack light since lodges offer basic amenities with solar power. Your days include morning wildlife walks, trips to oxbow lakes to spot river otters and caimans, and night walks to see nocturnal animals.
- Day 4
Cusco
After a 3-hour morning boat ride to Puerto Maldonado, fly to Cusco (1.5 hours). Remember that Cusco sits at 11,152 feet, so take it slow today. The Cusco Planetarium makes a perfect evening activity to learn about Inca astronomy. A traveler noted: "The guides were incredibly helpful with altitude adjustment tips."

What people love about 10-day Peru tours
- The Inca Journey
Overall a good tour, well organized. Communication in advance was somewhat lacking and communication at the beginning at Lima was disappointing as most infor was shared while travelling by bus to he airport. For example, it was recommended to purchase soles in Lima and not at the airport while encounters to the airport? Accommodation of Casa Bonita in Lima was disappointing. The staff were wonderful but the rooms were noisy, with poor internet connectivity, and unclean rooms.
- 10 Day Andean Highlights "Machu Picchu & Puno" with Local Flights
WOW. Any words would fall short in showing how happy we were with the tour itinerary and especially the tour guide, Percy. The guide was knowledgeable, personable as very friendly. We felt that we had a good friend taking us around and showing awesome aspects of Peru. The places we amazing.
- Journeys: Machu Picchu and the Amazon National Geographic Journeys
National Geographic was not associated with our tour, but G adventures did an excellent job. Our guides were knowledgeable, friendly and incredibly helpful on every part of the tour. They all went far above and beyond the minimum, from helping us get laundry done to caring for members of our group who became ill. Every detail was planned for and the tour ran smoothly from start to finish. I will gladly book with G adventures again the future.
