- Paul· September 16th, 2019Was awesome!!! Ricardo was the best guide ever, always there when you need him, and helped us to organise stuff when we went off on our own. Highly recommend this tourShow more
- Jyoti· February 21st, 2018As I wanted to cover as much as I could of South America, I choose Oasis Overland as they covered the most in comparison to the other tour sites and for a great price. Our tour leader and driver were absolutely amazing and the other passengers on the tour made the trip, what it was, unforgettable. Oasis covered the main bits that I wanted too and then some. I would definitely book through them again.Show more
- Craig· March 2nd, 2024Be warned this is a bare bones tour where Oasis provides transportation, a way to group prepare food and money for that food when not in town (but no refrigeration and a tight budget), and minimal accomodations. You will normally stay in dorm rooms, often with people not traveling with you, or stay in gas station parking lots in provided tents, some that leaked. While included activities are included, they are few. Optional and other activities are the responsibility of the passengers to locate and book themselves. Accomodations aren't always in town. An example is where the description talks about Devil's Island and the European Spaceport, the only Oasis affordable accommodation in Kourou was a campground 20 km out of town in a town famous for few taxis. So it was next to impossible to visit both of them without 'leaving the truck' for several days and finding our own transportation and own more expensive accomodations. Which some of us did. We lucked out on Kaieteur Falls because we just happened to have the right number of passengers who wanted to go in order to charter a flight and one of the passengers was willing to organize it. But don't count on seeing the falls unless you 'leave the truck' for many days to catch a scheduled flight with enough passengers. In the future I will likely take busses and book my own accomodations to save money and see more. Or go on all inclusive tours. Some people really like the forced social interaction on a budget and some liked they didn't have to think about the transportation or accomodations, only the rest for a bit more cost than self travel. This trip is for them.Show more

Asked on July 23rd, 2025Would like full schedule of optional activities costs, in addition to full itinerary. Also, can we see photos of vehicle, and more info about the where when, and type of camping dates please

Nicola
Traveler•Written July 2025We would just like our questio(s) answered via email. I also neglected to ask for a schedule of local payments (or supplements) please forward that as well
- Oasis OverlandOperator•Written July 2025
The trip price is £5995.00 per person, with a local payment of US$3700.00 per person. The local payment is an integral part of the trip price, but paid in cash so the crew has the available cash for day to day payments while the trip runs. On this trip, the camping nights are about 50% and the other times we will use simple hostels. The section between Buenos Aires and Santiago will mostly be camping due to the locations. In other places you can upgrade to accommodation almost every night. Overall, these are fantastic experiences, and suitable for anyone aged from 18 to 80.

Asked on May 15th, 2025How many people will be on this tour? Do you provide all the camping equipment? What is the average age of people who book this tour? Can I pay a supplement to have my own tent and room? Is this an active tour?
- Oasis OverlandOperator•Written May 2025
This trip has a maximum group size of 24. We provide 3-person tents shared by 2 people of the same sex. You would need to pack your own sleeping bag and sleeping mat. The ages of the people currently booked on the trip are 38 years to 72 years. No, we don't offer single supplements on our overland trips. You can bring your own tent and if the hostels we use on some of the days have single rooms available, you can upgrade to a single room on the spot.

Traveler•Written May 2025Is there still space to book the extra Inca Trek and the W trek? How much is that?

Traveler•Written May 2025Is the Overland truck equipped with sockets to recharge my phone? Is it a UK socket? How many crew members will there be on this tour, so I know how much money to bring for tipping? Is there a tipping kitty to be paid to the guide in advance? How much is the local payment before the trip starts? Is it best to bring US cash, can you exchange this into local currency on the trip? I only have 2 mastercards, in the trip notes it says that they are not accepted in South America? Do I need to get a VISA card?
- Oasis OverlandOperator•Written May 2025
We have a charging section on the truck, yes. This is a 'multiPlug' fitting 2-pin plugs and we also suggest bringing along the USB cigarette lighter adapters. There will be one driver and one tour leader for the trip. The local payment is US$4400. We recommend bringing cash and suggest you may need to get a Visa card.
