The pre-planning worked perfectly for routes and the onsen we stopped at. Most important, Lloyd watched out for me like an always happy and rock-steady buddy even as I slowed down to a walk over some of our steeper climbs. I'm 81. The guides simply applauded loud when I deserved it and then accommodated quietly when I needed the support. The route was breathtakingly beautiful -- miles of Kyushu cherry blossoms, countryside, mountains, and river-bank former rail cuts. Carefully chosen shrines and historic sites and their significance really extended my academic's appreciation of Japan. Now I have to convince my teenage grandkids to come along on my next trips.Show more

Asked on September 8th, 2024How long is each cycling leg on average? Is a rental bike of some sort included in the price? Do I need to bring my own bicycle? What about helmets?
SpiceRoads CyclingOperator•Written September 2024The trip is 8D/7N with 6 cycling days. The average riding distance is 39 km/day, and the climbing per day is 310. As a moderate tour, we spend around 3-4 hours in the saddle on the riding days. The tour cost is excluded of bike rental. Bike rental is optional and if you would like to bring your own bike, you can do that and you will also bring your own helmet. But if you rent the bike with us, we will provide the helmet for you.
