Itinerary
- Day 1
Marrakesh
You'll arrive at Marrakesh airport where a private driver meets you for the transfer to Villa des Orangers, your luxury base between the Royal Palace and Jemaa el-Fna square. After checking in, spend the afternoon however you like - the hotel's gardens and pool are right there, or you can head into the medina if you want to start exploring right away. Dinner happens at the hotel's restaurant with Mediterranean and Moroccan dishes.

This morning you'll tour Marrakesh's main sights with a local guide on a private half-day outing. Start at Bahia Palace to see the carved wooden ceilings and tiled courtyards up close. Then you'll walk through the medina's narrow alleyways and souks, checking out the busy markets. Grab lunch before heading to a traditional hammam for a spa treatment with exfoliation and bathing rituals.

Marrakesh to Zagora
After breakfast, your private transfer heads toward Zagora on a 5.5-hour drive through mountain scenery. You'll cross the High Atlas over Tizi n'Tichka pass at 7,414 feet, passing Berber villages and Mount Toubkal. There's a stop at an argan oil cooperative, then you continue through Jebel Sarhro and over Tizi-n-Tinififft pass. You'll visit Amridil Kasbah and explore the Draa Valley oasis before arriving in Zagora. A private guide takes you on a fossil exploration, then you settle in at Dar Hnini Kasbah for dinner.

Zagora to Erg Chigaga Desert Camp
Start by exploring Zagora's Amzerou Jewish Quarter, then head to Tamegroute village known for traditional pottery workshops. You'll see the ancient Zaouia Naciria library with its old manuscripts. Next, travel to the Tinfou Dunes before moving on to Mhamid, where you'll switch to sturdy Jeeps for a 40-mile off-road adventure through dunes and plateaus. By sunset you'll reach Erg Chigaga for a camel ride, arriving at Azala Desert Camp for dinner under the stars.

Erg Chigaga to Ouarzazate
Rise early to catch the sunrise over the desert with breakfast to follow. Then board a 4WD for your return journey along the old Paris-Dakar route to Foum Zguid and Lake Irqui, a dried salt lake that can become swampy seasonally. This area has wild animals like lizards, snakes, and gazelles. Lunch stops in Taznakht village where local artisans make vibrant rugs. From there you'll continue to Ouarzazate and check into Le Berbere Palace hotel.

Ouarzazate to Marrakesh
Your 3.5-hour drive takes you through Berber villages and Atlas mountain scenery back toward Marrakesh. You'll stop at Aït Benhaddou, the medieval UNESCO ksar, to wander the alleys and climb to the old granary for views of historic caravan routes. After crossing Tizi n'Tichka pass again, you'll return to Villa des Orangers. This evening brings a three-hour private food tour through the medina's alleyways tasting local sweets and spices, finishing with traditional tajine stew while learning about Moroccan cooking.
