- AAnonymous· May 8th, 2025Fabulous cruise, food, crew and tours We had the wonderful experience of travelling on the One Way Wonders from Dubrovnik to Split on the Avangard which departed on August 10, 2019 and it was amazing. We are not seasoned cruisers and we were looking for something small and stylish. One of our friends recommended we look at Katarina…… Katarina Cruise Line were very helpful throughout our booking and we would like to thank Vanja for being so helpful and for answering all our questions, as silly as some may have been. We booked everything through Vanja directly with Katarina. Vanja also sent us a list of restaurants and bars in each port to assist us. The Avangard is a beautiful ship, the cabins are spacious and clean, as are the ensuite bathrooms. If you are fortunate enough go on the Avangard ask for cabin 14. We would like to thank the delightful young lady, Andrea for servicing our room perfectly every day. The food was extremely good. We had a 3 course meal on the first night, a great breakfast every morning, a 3 course lunch every day (with a glass or wine or beer). The Captain’s dinner was 4 courses and the Croatian entertainment that night was a real highlight. One of our fellow passengers had Croatian heritage and helped the entertainers by adding vocals to the music. All meals were top quality and presented and served like a ‘high class’ restaurant by the knowledgeable and charming Matea and Tomi. Our captain, Duje and the crew, Marin, Dani and Antonio work really hard and nothing was a problem to them. If you required anything it was there in an instant. When the Avangard docked at night getting ashore and back meant walking across the other boats, which was a real adventure, but there was always someone to help you if it looked like you might step into the Adriatic The ports of call, swim stops every day and tours were of top quality. Matteo was a fabulous and knowledgeable tour guide and really knew his stuff, and his geography. One of the highlights was the oyster tasting in Ston. Just the boat ride to where you taste the oysters was fantastic and the oysters and mussels marvellous. The wine tasting in the tunnels used in WWII in Vis was also a highlight. The Blue Cave was well worth the early morning rise (mind you it was a 7.30 start, so not that early). We had night time meals in Korcula, Vis, Hvar and Split which gave us the opportunity to sample the restaurants and nightlife in these beautiful towns. If you got back aboard before midnight, a couple of drinks on the top deck was always in order as the bar closes at 12. The cost of booze on board seemed less than in the reasonably priced restaurants and bars ashore. Would we recommend this cruise? In a heartbeat, yes. We had a fabulous time which was enhanced by the entire Avangard crew and by our fellow travellers. If you like the idea of spending a week on your own private stylish cruiser being attended to by gorgeous people then this is the cruise for you. - ARussell and Judy Connolly· May 8th, 2025When traveling away from home, especially in a foreign country, certain aspects of travel can be very stressful. The last thing people want is to experience stress while on a vacation designed to distance oneself from this uncomfortable feeling. The slogan “step into a Katrina cruise and leave the stress behind in port” clearly comes to mind when I reflect upon our experience with passengers and crew on our cruise with you in the Summer of 2019. I personally credit myself in planning adventures for ourselves and friends so it came as a wonderful surprise when our thoughts and ideas seemed to be continuously anticipated by our crew and director. As a result, our approach to our daily plan became “ go with the flow “ just as we did in swimming with the tide from one lake to another on our national park experience with you. The best values in life that your dollar, in this case Kuna, can buy are the good times and memories of places and friends. In this regard you provided us with a special long lasting gift. Thank you kindly-- from Brian, Jennifer, Sloane, Evelyn, and Robert, “The Viora Family”. We had the wonderful experience of travelling from Dubrovnik to Split in August 2019 on the Avangard. We had not done a cruise before, so we didn’t know what to expect. We are delighted to say that we didn’t want to get off the ship after our 7 night cruise, we wanted to stay forever. There are a few reasons for this, firstly the wonderful crew they were fabulous and nothing was a problem to them. Thank you so much for making our 7 night cruise the highlight of our travels. Secondly the other guests who the majority ranged in age from 55 to 70, (we are 63 and 65). Everyone tried very hard to get on with everyone and we all got on so well. These guests were from France, Brazil, Argentina, New Zealand, the UK and Australia. There were two exceptions in the age bracket in that there was a couple who were 84 and 81 and another couple who were 32 and 28. What made our cruise so lovely was the comradeship and the couple who were 84 and 81 did every tour, walk, swim and blue cave, they were fantastic so were the 28 and 32 year old couple who were on their honeymoon but still joined in all the tours as well as after dinner drinks on the sun deck with the ‘oldies’. We all left the cruise feeling as though we had made new friends for life. Thank you Katarina for making our first cruise one of the best experiences that we have ever had. - 1G1227sussexlane· July 14th, 2024The perfect trip - a cruise with friends on an 18 cabin yacht named the Maritimo helmed by Capt Dino and tour director Mariana. Our itinerary started in Split for 7 days, ending in Dubrovnik. Our cruise mates were almost entirely from the US, however we had 2 Kiwis on board to make it an international crowd. Each day we started with a healthy, hearty cooked to order breakfast, swimming in the fabulous waters of the Adriatic then shower, a 3 course (1-2 hour long) lunch, while we sailed to our next island. We visited Hvar, Brac, and several other islands, one more enchanting than the next. A tour with a local tour guide took up a few hours in the afternoon, then we were free to continue touring, take another swim or shop. Tours included a great wine tasting in Vis (with amazing little bites), an oyster tasting - fresh from the Adriatic, tours of the town of Ston and it's ancient fortified walls and a wonderful gourmet Captains Dinner with local musicians. The staff on Capt Dino's Maritimo was first rate, special requests were quickly honored (like extra pillows or towels). The ship itself was clean, in great condition and had fabulous air conditioning. The quarters were not luxurious but excellent. It's a small ship so the cabins were small, and if you sneezed or coughed your cabin mate next door could easily hear you. Our tour guide Mariana was friendly, professional and a great problem solver. We truly lucked out because our entire group was friendly and we all bonded during the trip - I think Mariana and Dino had a lot to do with the positivity we felt the entire week. If you want to explore the coastline and islands of Croatia you should consider Katerina cruise lines. If you're lucky enough to get on the Maritimo tell Capt. Dino and his staff (especially Milos) we say hello and thank you again!Show moreTrip date: July 2024
- RCRaquel· October 30th, 2023I can’t say enough good about this cruise. It surpassed my expectations. The crew were so professional and kind. Knew what you wanted before you did. Attentive at all hours. The ship was so clean and well kept. The tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and kind, super helpful with anything we asked for or needed. Really went the extra mile. I 100% want to do another cruise with Katrina. I wish they did Greek islands and Italian coast. Love them so much!Show moreTrip date: September 2023
