You'll land at Sucre Airport and get transferred to your hotel. Depending on when you arrive, there's time to walk around this colonial city and see the white-painted buildings that make it distinctive. The afternoon's yours to wander at your own pace or rest after travel.

Sucre
This morning you're exploring Bolivia's capital and its historical sites. Head to Plaza de la Recoleta for views across the city, and then visit the Cal Orck'o archaeological site where you can check out well-preserved dinosaur tracks and life-size dinosaur models. It's a good mix of urban sightseeing and natural history in one day.

Sucre to Potosí
The drive today takes you through scenic Andes routes to Potosí, which sits at 4,070m/13,353ft altitude. This former silver-mining hub still operates as a mining center and you'll do a walking tour through the city center. After that, visit Casa de La Moneda, the UNESCO-listed former mint building. Take it slower today given the elevation.

Potosí to Uyuni
Starting with a stop at the historic Quinta Cayara, you'll then drive across the highlands toward Uyuni. Along the route, watch for vicu??as and llama herds in their natural habitat. The landscape changes as you gain altitude and move toward the salt flats region.

- Day 5
Salar de Uyuni
Today's devoted entirely to the Salar de Uyuni, the world's largest salt lake covering over 10,000 km2. You'll see traditional salt production methods, the distinctive hexagonal salt crystal formations, and get time for those fun perspective photos the area's known for. Visit Incahuasi Island with its thousand-year-old cacti and have a picnic lunch there. By evening you'll be staying in a salt hotel on the edge of the salt pan.

Salar de Uyuni to Uyuni
Another day exploring the Salar de Uyuni landscape with different perspectives and routes. On the return journey to Uyuni, stop at the old railway cemetery where you can feel the history and take photos of the abandoned trains and machinery. You'll get back to Uyuni by evening.

Uyuni to La Paz
You'll fly to La Paz for a full day of city exploration. Start with the cable car for bird's-eye views of the sprawling city, then visit Monticulo and Killi Killi viewpoints. After that, explore Valle de la Luna with its curious stone formations that look otherworldly. Visit Plaza Murillo in the government district and walk through the historic Witches' Alley in the old town. By evening, relax at one of the city's bars and take in the local atmosphere.
