Sofia
Once you get to your hotel and check in, you'll have time to settle down for the evening. If you're interested in trying some traditional Bulgarian food, there are local restaurants nearby where you can get a real sense of the area and its culture.

Sofia
Your day starts with a trip out to Rila Monastery, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site with really interesting architecture and a lot of history behind it. Back in Sofia later on, you'll walk through the city and see the Alexander Nevski Cathedral, which is hard to miss. After that, the Old Town is yours to explore at your own pace, and there are plenty of restaurants around if you want to grab dinner.

Sofia to Plovdiv
After breakfast, you're heading to Plovdiv, one of the oldest cities in Europe. A walking tour takes you through the Old Town where you'll check out the Ancient Roman Theatre and the Folk Art Museum. You'll have time to grab lunch wherever sounds good to you. The afternoon brings a visit to a local winery where you can try some Bulgarian wines, and dinner at a local spot is available if you want it.

Plovdiv to Gabrovo
The drive to Kazanluk Valley takes you through an area known for growing roses. You'll stop at a traditional rose oil distillery to see how they make it and taste some of their products. From there, you'll see the replica Thracian Tomb before heading to Gabrovo and the Etar Open Air Museum. Once you check in at your hotel, the rest of the evening is free time to do as you like.

Gabrovo to Bucharest
You'll walk through Veliko Tarnavo and visit Tsarevets Fortress, which sits high above the city. On the way, stop in Arbanassi, a small village with really distinctive traditional buildings. After that, you're crossing into Romania and driving to Bucharest to check into your hotel. Dinner happens at a local restaurant in the historic Old Town area.

Start by visiting the Parliament Palace, which is one of the largest buildings in the world. A guided tour shows you around the interior with all its detailed decorations and massive scale. Then you'll do a guided walk through Bucharest's Old Town, grab lunch on your own time, and then head out for your departure.
