Itinerary
- Day 1
Hotel to Mhamid
Start by leaving your hotel and heading south through the Anti Atlas Mountains, crossing the highest pass at 1660m/5446ft before descending into Agdz. The drive takes you along the scenic Draa valley, which follows an ancient caravan route that traders used centuries ago. You'll stop in Tamnougalte village to have some mint tea and stretch your legs. After that, continue on to Zagora, called the 'gate to the desert', where you'll grab lunch at a local guesthouse. The afternoon brings you to Tamgroute where there's a traditional library, underground passage, and pottery workshop to check out. Finish the day with dinner and overnight in Mhamid.

- Day 2
Mhamid to Erg Chegaga Desert Camp
This morning, you'll drive 60km from Mhamid across sandy and stony desert tracks heading toward Erg Chegaga, where the region's highest dunes reach 300 meters and stretch over 40km. Once you arrive, you'll settle into your tent and then head out on a camel ride to catch the sunset from one of the tallest dunes, which offers views across the entire sand sea. After dinner, you can sit around the campfire for stargazing and listen to nomadic music while relaxing under the stars before spending the night in camp.

- Day 3
Erg Chegaga to Ouarzazate
Following breakfast, you'll drive 90km across the Sahara through stony desert terrain, passing over reg and hammada landscapes and the dried-up Lake Iriqui where mirages sometimes appear. Along the way, look for fossils scattered around or embedded in rock formations. Later, you'll reach Taznakht, which is known for its Berber rugs and carpets, and stop for lunch there. Then you'll drive east to arrive in Ouarzazate by late afternoon, wrapping up your desert tour.
