I think we were one of the first tours Tour Radar did of this kind. There were only 10 in our group, including the guide. I think it would have been difficult for a larger group to be able to all get on board the same train. We read the itinerary and we expected some running for trains and knew to pack light so you could easily maneuver and navigate train stations and stairs at hotels. I highly recommend packing light because others on our tour were struggling with large luggage while running for a train and having a brief period to board sometimes crowded trains. The itinerary we received before the trip clearly met our expectations. It was a wonderful way (although sometimes stressful as travel can be at times) to see so many countries and countryside as we traveled via train. The accommodation and meals were above our expectations. Also, our guide offered many additional excursions you could purchase during the trip. Some of the highlights of additional excursions we were offered were in Interlaken, Switzerland we went up to Jungfrau on the 360 view Männlichen which was magnificent. In Paris went to the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, and the Cabaret. This made the experience even more special. I would recommend this trip to people that are in good physical condition and are willing to have only the size of carry-on luggage that an airline permits.

Rail touring was a new experience for us and some aspects of it were great, like not being so confined as in a coach. But it was a little more stressful with boarding times and platforms and negotiating our way around stations. There was also a lot more luggage handling and walking with luggage at speed in crowds, which was not something we liked. We also were disappointed that the tour program was not closely adhered to when the opportunities were there to do it. There was also some confusion about dinners and optional inclusions. We felt that the tour leader was not ready Au gait with the task

The Milan to Amsterdam rail tour is an energetic trip with much to see. There's luggage carrying and quick paced walking involved. However, it was a enjoyable ten days spent with a very friendly group of people. Our excellent tour leader Darius, was very knowledgeable about all the places we visited and kept the group organized and timely. Darius was also personally helpful to me during a significantly distressing period and I am truly grateful for his assistance.

    • Expat Explore TravelOperatorWritten August 2024

Prices are based on twin-share accommodation. If you're traveling solo, you will be paired with a fellow traveler of the same gender. Alternatively, you can opt for a single supplement at an additional cost of $1,094.75. This option allows you to have your own room with an ensuite bathroom for the duration of the tour, subject to availability.

Wondering about mobility for the Milan to Amsterdam rail tour. How difficult is this physically?

    • Expat Explore TravelOperatorWritten December 2024

We believe the best way to get to the heart and soul of a city is on foot, surrounded by the people and the culture. For this reason, we do walking tours through most of the cities we visit. Many of the cities you visit are vast and old, often with steps and cobblestones. Our walking tours can last up to 3 hours with plenty of opportunities to take photographs and soak up the history of these fascinating places, but you do require a certain level of fitness to enjoy your tour to its fullest.

There shouldn't be an instance on the tour when the Hotel are not ready for you to store your luggage. However, in an unforeseen even that it will be the case, your Tour Leader will be providing you with solutions. In essence, you will not be carrying your luggage when you do walking tours.

    • Expat Explore TravelOperatorWritten April 2024

The Optional Excursions that are offered for our Milan to Amsterdam Rail Tour are booked through the Tour Leader during the tour and are paid in cash. We highly recommend investing in a 'multi' or 'universal' travel adapter which will work in all major international regions.
