We wanted a tour that hit as many geographical aspects of Iceland as possible and we were not disappointed. We also wanted to experience local living and stay in cozy inns and hotels and restaurants around the country. We were exposed to wonderful places and a variety of different kinds of food and drink. Everything we saw and everyone was met was just amazing! The tour was very organized and our guide was the best we have ever had! Gylfi was organized, flexible, patient, a good communicator, a good driver, knowledgeable and well connected at all stops. It was touching to see where he grew up and to hear his story about life on a farm. We were very impressed by the fact that Tröll owned all the hotels we stayed at to ensure there was availability for all 18 passengers! We feel that we have a deep appreciation for Iceland and to have a guide who is local and knowledgeable made our experience that much better. I would highly recommend this tour and if you get Gylfi as your guide you will have the best experience on this tour!Show more

We didn’t get nice weather for the first 6 days, but that’s the luck of the draw. What an amazing place Iceland is - from ice cave & glacier walks, a great whale experience to the many waterfalls and the huge lava cave!Show more

Troll ExpeditionsOperator•Written December 2024Here is a list of the hotels we usually use, keep in mind that this information can be confirmed only a few days prior to departure, as it depends on the availability: Hotel Drangshliðin, Hrífunes Guesthouse/ Hotel Glacier view, Hotel Island/Hotel Klettur/Reykjavik Lights, Stykkishólmur-Inn. Please feel free to get in contact again a few days before you start your tour, in case you would like to know for sure which accommodation you will be staying at.

Asked on October 8th, 2024Looking at flights that lands at about 6 am in Kef. Would just have carry-on luggages and head straight to Reykjavik. Wondering if that would be enough time to make it for the start of the tour.

If arriving early in the morning on the same day when your tour is meant to start, we could leave a note on the booking for the driver to know that you will arrive in town a bit later than 8am, and set you as the last client to be picked up. The latest time we can wait for you is 8.30. It takes around 1 hour for the airport shuttle bus to get to Reykjavik, without traffic; we strongly suggest you to take a taxi to Bus Hostel.

Asked on August 9th, 2024Any chance one person could slip into the Oct 13-17th trip. I already have a plane ticket that arrives early on the 13th and departs early evening on 18th. I'm very active and want to see and do a lot in that time. Really trying to avoid an older group hop on/off bus kind of tour.

As of this time, we do no have any scheduled departure on your preferred date of October 13. However, you may book separately our 3 Day South Coast together with our 2 Day Snaefellsnes Peninsula & West Iceland.

The hotels we use are 3 star hotels with private bathroom and breakfast included. You are allowed a small backpack on board and a 24 inch suitcase. If you have anything bigger than that, you are welcome to store it in our office while you are away on the tour. If you miss out on sights or activities during the tour, we always issue a partial refund. Luggage storage means that you store your extra luggage in our office while you are away. We will take good care of it.
