Itinerary
- Day 1NegomboYou'll land at Colombo airport and get picked up for the 20-minute drive to Negombo, a beach town on the coast. Since this is your first day, there's no rush to do much. If your flight arrives early enough, relax at the hotel's beach or pool. Later in the evening, head down to the seashore to catch the sunset before dinner. - Day 2Negombo to AnuradhapuraStart with breakfast featuring local Sri Lankan tea or coffee, then travel inland through countryside toward Anuradhapura. Along the way, stop at Munneshwaram Temple, a significant Hindu temple complex. Once in Anuradhapura, you'll walk around this ancient UNESCO site to see the sacred Sri Maha Bodhi tree (where Buddha found enlightenment) and the Ruwanweliseya monument dating back to 140 BC. By evening, settle into your hotel in this quiet area. - Meals

- Day 3Anuradhapura to SigiriyaAfter breakfast, head to Dambulla in the cultural triangle. The morning includes a forest walk through Ritigala Forest Monastery (bring mosquito spray), then a tuk-tuk tour through a local village to visit a farmer's home. You'll canoe across the lake to get views of nearby Sigiriya Rock. Later, ride back through rural villages by cart, and as evening approaches, visit Sigiriya Rock Fortress to see it lit by the sunset. - Meals

- Day 4Sigiriya to KandyAfter breakfast, you're heading to Kandy, the former Sinhalese capital perched on a plateau in the mountains. First stop is the Royal Cave Temple in Dambulla, a UNESCO site with 5 caves carved into a 160-meter rock face. Then visit Matale Spice Garden before continuing to Kandy. In the afternoon, go to the Temple of the Tooth Relic, another UNESCO site. Finish the day walking around Kandy's center and watching a cultural dance performance. - Meals

- Day 5Kandy to Nuwara EliyaAfter breakfast, travel to Nuwara Eliya, Sri Lanka's tea country (locals call it 'Little England' because of old colonial buildings). Visit the Gem Museum to see how local gems and jewelry are made. Then check out Peradeniya Royal Botanical Garden, considered one of Asia's finest. Drive through the misty tea hills, stop at a tea factory to see how Ceylon tea is produced, and try a fresh cup. In the afternoon, walk through Nuwara Eliya's center and browse the fruit and vegetable market. - Meals

- Day 6Nuwara Eliya to YalaBoard a train at Nanu-Oya station heading to Ella village, riding one of the region's most scenic routes through the hills. Once in Ella, explore the village and see the Nine Arch Bridge, an impressive structure made entirely from rocks, bricks, and cement with no steel. Trek to Mini Adam's Peak if you have energy left. Later, drive down to Yala and check into your hotel there. - Meals

- Day 7YalaAfter breakfast, you're off on a 4x4 jeep safari through Yala National Park, Sri Lanka's largest park. The morning search takes you out at sunrise looking for leopards, crocodiles, wild elephants, and birds across the park's two river-divided sections. Back at the hotel by midday, spend time relaxing on the beach with a drink under the palms. Optional activities include jet skiing, banana boating, diving, snorkeling, surfing, or fishing. End the day watching the sunset from the shore. - Meals

Spend time visiting the main attractions and handle any last-minute shopping. Consider eating at an international restaurant to wrap up the trip properly. Then head to the airport for your flight home, or get dropped at your hotel in Colombo or Negombo to end your Sri Lanka journey. - Meals
