Itinerary

Day 1
Cusco
Your Waman Adventures representative meets you at Cusco Airport with a sign, then it's a 15-20 minute drive into the city center. Once you check into your hotel, the rest of the day is yours to settle in and let your body adjust to the altitude around 11,000 feet. The hotel provides complimentary coca tea, which helps with acclimatization. Plan to take it easy this first day and get some rest.
Day 2
Cusco to Aguas Calientes
Your hotel pickup happens between 08:00-08:30 am, then you head to the colorful town of Chinchero to see Inca wall constructions and a colonial church. From there, you'll try traditional Andean textile weaving at a local interpretation center before moving on to Moray's circular terraces. After that, you descend to the Salt mines in Maras, which has over 3,000 individual salt wells terraced into the hillside. Later, you catch the train from Ollantaytambo station to Aguas Calientes, arriving in time to rest for your Machu Picchu visit the next day.

The bus takes you from Aguas Calientes up to Machu Picchu early in the morning where you'll register with your entrance tickets and passport. Your guide spends about 2 hours walking you through the site's most significant locations and structures. Afterward, you return to Aguas Calientes to grab lunch on your own, then catch the train back to Ollantaytambo. A private vehicle then drives you back to your hotel in Cusco.

Rainbow Mountain
You'll get picked up very early, between 04:00-04:30 am, for the Rainbow Mountain tour. After about 2 hours driving south through fields, rivers, and villages, you reach Cusipata for breakfast. Then it's another 45 minutes to the Pulawasipata trailhead, passing herds of llamas and alpacas and views of glaciers and canyons. The hike to Winincunca (the Mountain of Colors) takes roughly 2 hours, and you'll see shepherds in traditional colorful clothing along the way. At the summit, you have time to photograph the views and spot the snow-capped Ausangate mountain before hiking back down. You return to Cusipata for a buffet lunch, then the drive back to Cusco takes the rest of the afternoon.

I won’t have enough characters to describe my gratitude for my entire experience with Waman. Beginning with Liz during my reservation process, she was so attentive and promptly responsive. Then all the way through to the last drop off back at the airport, I have never experienced such an exceptional tour company. The highlight of my experience was my tour guide, Papa Freddy. His passion for what he does and what he knows made everything exciting and a memory of a lifetime. There’s no price tag on that. I was also sick with a chest cold on top of altitude sickness and Freddy did everything to accommodate my needs. I can’t imagine the experience having been any more perfect without Freddy looking out for me the whole time. I am forever grateful. He is a major asset to your company. Thank you for a first class experience from the beautiful hotel rooms, to the clean and comfy vans, to the ease of the excursions, to the friendly staff, and again for putting Papa Freddy as my tour guide (and Wilbur for Rainbow Mountain). It was an unusual encounter. Sadly, a delay on my international flight caused me to miss my flight from Lima to Cusco. Fortunately, I was able to resolve this issue and immediately contacted Lucero, our travel agent, who promptly set up another airport pickup for us. Even though we were late, Sofia, our tour guide for the days in the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu, was waiting for us at the hotel to give us our orientation. She demonstrated to us during our visits how much she knew about the community's culture and was able to address all of our inquiries. A fun and secure trip overall. The visit to Cusco was one of the best experiences I have ever had, a wonderful tour of the most impressive places in Cusco. We visited this beautiful city together with my boyfriend and my parents, the excellent level of the guides and support staff is indescribable, the package includes transportation and hotel accommodation, so it was very nice not to have to worry about where we were going to stay and how we were going to get to each destination. I have never taken a trip alone before, but I am so glad I booked it! It was my first time visiting Cusco and fortunately all the staff spoke English, it was very easy for me to communicate with them. Because the Circuit 1 + Machu Picchu Mountain ticket costs more than Circuit 2, there is an additional $25 USD per person. Availability is extremely limited, so I recommend confirming as soon as possible.

The final payment of the remaining balance is required at least 60 days prior to the departure date of your tour. TourRadar never charges you a booking fee and will charge you in the stated currency.
