Itinerary
- Day 1
Cusco to Huacahuasi
You'll leave Cusco at 6 am and drive through Sacred Valley mountain routes heading toward Lares. The road winds through high terrain, and you'll arrive around lunchtime to eat before starting your trek. After lunch, you begin hiking from the Lares hot springs along an old Inca trail that follows Rio Huacahuasi. Along the way, you'll pass through rustic towns and meet local communities. By evening, you reach Huacahuasi, a welcoming Quechuan valley town where you'll spend the night.

Huilloc
This morning you trek through mountain villages with views of Apu Pitusiray Nevada. You'll see herds of llamas and watch locals prepare traditional potatoes. The trail climbs to 4,800m, then descends past Ipsaycocha lake toward Pataccancha where lunch is set up. After eating, you continue trekking to Huilloc for a traditional homestay with a local family. Dinner features Pachamanca, food cooked underground with local herbs and vegetables.

Huilloc to Ollantaytambo to Cusco
You leave Huilloc early morning by local transport to reach Ollantaytambo, an ancient archaeological town. Spend the afternoon exploring the historic Inca ruins scattered throughout the site. From there, you have options: continue to Machu Picchu or head back to Cusco by vehicle or train late in the evening, depending on your plans.
