Itinerary
- Day 1
Lisbon to Fatima
You'll start the day with a pickup at Marques de Pombal Square at 8:30 AM, then drive through scenic countryside toward Obidos, the medieval walled city perched on a hilltop. From there, you'll head to Alcobaca Monastery, which showcases beautiful Gothic details. After that comes Nazare, a fishing village right along the coast where you can grab lunch and take in the atmosphere. The afternoon continues to Batalha Monastery, another significant Gothic site. You'll finish the day in Fatima, where there's an option to attend a candle-lit procession if you're interested.

Fatima to Oporto
Following breakfast at your hotel, you'll head to Coimbra to see one of Europe's oldest universities, which has a notable baroque library worth spending time in. You'll also check out Santa Clara Church and the local ceramics shops that Coimbra is known for. Later, you drive to Aveiro, often called Portugal's Venice because of its canal system and the traditional moliceiro boats. This is a good spot to try some regional sweets before continuing on to Oporto. You'll arrive at your hotel there by evening.

Guimaraes - Braga
After breakfast in Oporto, you'll spend the morning walking through the riverside area, checking out historic houses, palaces, and churches scattered throughout the UNESCO site. If you want, you can have a glass of Port wine during this time. Around midday, you'll drive northwest to Guimaraes, which has significance as the birthplace of Portugal's first king. There's a castle on the Sacred Hill and the 15th-century Palace of Dukes of Braganca to explore. Then you head to Braga, sometimes called Portuguese Rome for its religious buildings. You'll see the oldest cathedral and the Bom Jesus do Monte Sanctuary, which has a famous baroque stairway. The drive back to Oporto happens in the evening.

Oporto
Have breakfast at your hotel, then the day is completely yours. You can explore Oporto at your own pace, wander through neighborhoods, find restaurants you like, or simply relax at your hotel or a cafe. No planned activities or group activities, so it's flexible based on what you want to do.

Oporto to Urgeirica
After breakfast, you'll drive to Amarante, a small town known for its natural surroundings and local pastries. You'll have time to walk around, sit by the river, and check out the market. From there, you drive through vineyard areas toward Vila Real to see the Mateus estate gardens. The route takes you through the Douro Valley, and you'll stop in Lamego to try local ham and the famous Bola de Lamego pastry. After that, the drive continues through more mountainous terrain to Viseu in the Dao wine region. You'll explore the Cathedral area and wander through streets lined with granite buildings before arriving in Urgeirica to check in.

Urgeirica to Lisbon
You'll have breakfast at your hotel, then drive through central Portugal to Bussaco, which is forested and has a lot of rare trees and plants throughout the grounds. There's a romantic former royal hunting lodge turned hotel worth seeing. Continuing on, you head to Tomar to visit the Convent of Christ, a UNESCO site founded by the Templars back in 1159. The complex has various architectural styles mixed throughout, and there's also an impressive castle nearby. Late in the day, you'll drive back to Lisbon for drop-off at Marques de Pombal Square.
