- Maria Gabriela· April 10th, 2025It is bot a tour. It is a package of train tickets, hotels aun tours from otherrs operators.Show moreTrip date: February 2025
- Michelle· January 4th, 2025DISCLAIMER: NOT A GROUP TOUR. This is a tour where you are required to make your way to a meeting point where you join a guide(who is with another tour company) along with other people who booked through another company(e.g.: via Viatour, Limon, HungryOsaka) who also signed up for a tour, but not the tour you have signed up for with Tourist Journey. You are not with the same people every day of this tour. Hotel selections were great and close to or easy to get to metro. Rooms are small for two people so try not to bring too much luggage or buy lots while there. Breakfast not included at hotel in Tokyo, but the breakfast at the hotel in Kyoto offered decent selections for all diets but was very crowded due to bus groups. Some of the tour guides were great, especially Tim, from USA, in Osaka. We were blown away by the amount of information and history he knew everywhere we went. A big thanks to Andy for helping us figure out how to navigate the Kyoto station and getting us to Osaka, while also providing extra recommendations based on our likes after the tour had finished and we still had time left to do things in Osaka. Mark, from Japan, was excellent at keeping us together, navigating through big crowds at Tsukiji fish market, and had us eating delicious authentic foods. He was also full of knowledge of the area and always had an answer to all our questions. K, from China now living in Japan for studies, did a wonderful job at trying to answer our questions while at stops and provided excellent food suggestions throughout the day. He was kind and knowledgeable and managed to keep us all together and on time at every stop during the Mt Fuji day tour. In Kyoto, Adrian(?, from New Zealand) seemed new to the tour as a guide but still managed to show us all the interesting things along with providing whatever knowledge he could give regarding the Gion area and Geikos when asked a question. Toshi, from Japan, in Kyoto, was also excellent at keeping us all together, stressing the importance of being on time and had plenty of knowledge and information, along with a funny personality, everywhere we went. Our tour guide barely provided any information the entire day of the Tokyo day tour. We were left to ask a lot of questions but the language barrier prevented us from getting an answer or having the tour guide understand what we were asking so it just felt like we were strolling around and not learning much about the locations we were at. We enjoyed the locations that were picked for this tour, however, we were small groups every day and I felt like we could have had extra time in some places. For the cost of the tour, day one could have been filled with something as opposed to it just being an "arrival to the hotel" day. I wish there could have been a little bit more involved in Kyoto and learning about its history. On the travel day from Tokyo to Kyoto, it was a nightmare. Instructions on how and where to access tickets were incorrect. Even after showing the agents in the station pictures, tickets, and the information that was provided to us in the email, we still had a lot of trouble with language barriers trying to find where to get our tickets or where to go. It took us almost two hours to figure out how to leave Tokyo. We also experienced this hiccup for the Kyoto to Osaka tour day. I would recommend this tour for folks who are comfortable navigating metro systems and looking for a quick Japan tour.Show moreTourist Journey commented on this reviewThank you, Michelle, for sharing your detailed feedback on the 8-Day Best of Japan Tour. Asked on April 25th, 2025What is the difference between Standard and Boutique accommodations? Also, do they both offer private bathrooms?
- Tourist JourneyOperator•Written April 2025
The main difference between Standard and Boutique accommodations is the style and level of comfort — Boutique hotels are generally smaller, more stylish, and offer a more personalized experience. Both Standard and Boutique accommodations include private bathrooms.
