- EBEva· August 21st, 2024Automatic translation available in English. View in EnglishThe positives first: - We were very happy with both Notty, the office staff, and our guide and driver Immanuel. Communication before the trip went smoothly and Immanuel drove us very confidently throughout the week, even on challenging terrain, so that we felt safe with him at all times. On the long journeys we also had the odd good conversation and he was able to provide us with information about some of the sights. - The individual daily destinations were absolutely impressive. Be it the dunes in the Namib Desert, the dead trees of Deadvlei or the animals in Etosha: the highlights of Namibia are united on this tour and while we were probably very lucky to see so many animals, Immanuel can also be praised for knowing the park well and knowing where/how to find animals. - The group size: There were three of us at the start. However, the third person had booked a shorter tour, so there were only two of us afterwards. So we were able to influence the trip a little with our wishes. - It is a black-owned organization, which was important to us so as not to contribute to the imbalance that still exists between the black and white population. What we didn't like so much: - If you look at it on the map, you'll see that the locations are very far apart. As a result, you spend a lot of time in the car during these seven days. You have to be aware of this beforehand. - Camping is not a good idea in Namibia in winter. Or to put it another way: If you want to camp, you should definitely bring your own sleeping bag. The sleeping bags that you can rent from the organizer are not suitable for the night-time temperatures in the desert (for us it dropped to 4°C). We upgraded for the last two nights and are still clarifying how this can be offset against the price of the unused campsites. - We may have just been unlucky, but our trip was quite chaotic as the bank card our guide had been given for expenses during the trip didn't work. As a result, there were regular delays and waiting times because Immanuel had to keep organizing cash. Even at lunch, we had the feeling that they were trying to fob us off with food from the hot food counter at the supermarket in order to make do with the cash that was always in short supply. You can easily eat in cafés or smaller restaurants with the budget you've actually calculated for lunch. That wasn't the problem. At our last lunch, we added the missing ND 60 (approx. €3) ourselves because Immanuel once again didn't have enough cash with him. In retrospect, Discovery handled our criticism very well and appreciatively and promised to pay us around €125 as compensation for the missed dinner and half of the last two nights. Overall, the tour is highly recommended. - Stephen· December 31st, 2023Namibia is a great place to visit. Amazing scenery, friendly people, great food and it felt very safe. Why not an "Excellent" score? I prefer group tours and I was the only passenger...Immanuel the guide was great but I would have liked a group. I also upgraded to lodge accomodation which I would recommend...well worth the extra cost. Eldorado at Etosha was beautiful. Overall very good apart from no others on tour.Show moreTrip date: December 2023
- FSFranziska· October 16th, 2023Automatic translation available in English. View in EnglishWe searched for a long time for a cheap and good tour and found the perfect one. Lucas was one of the best guides I have had in my life. He made the tour very special. He was very knowledgeable, safe and fun to be around. Especially great was also the small group size, which meant that everyone had a window seat and wishes could be considered individually. The equipment was in very good condition and we quickly worked together as a team to set up the tents.... Scenically an absolute dream. Can highly recommend. Would do it again.Show moreTrip date: September 2023
- AJAksel· August 25th, 2023Had a great round trip in Namibia. Our guide Shawn was excellent, showing us the sights and telling us a lot about Namibia. Amazing experiences in the desert, and Etosha. Only wish I had more days there! Some misunderstanding with dates from office, but it was sorted out and ended up very well. Super happy with the trip, and can recommend it if you have a limited number of days in Namibia and want to see the sightsShow moreDiscovery Transfers and Tours commented on this reviewThank you so much for the feedback, we are glad you had a great time. - Serena· May 31st, 2023Excellent tour, well organized and paced. Good good, facilities were simple but adequate and with perfect positions. Lukas was a very good driver and all the staff was very responsive and attenti be Only negative note: the first 3 days we were in 4 and that meant 3 people sitting on the back seat, very tight and uncomfortable.Show moreDiscovery Transfers and Tours commented on this reviewDear Serena Thank you so much for he feedback, we highly appreciate your support. we are glad you had a great time. - NSNancy· March 7th, 2023We loved our tour with Lukas from Discovery Tours. There was a mix-up on the date that we needed to arrive in Windhoek for Day 1 of our tour. We actually missed Day 1 and arrived on Day 2, but Lukas assisted us with that and the company found us a hotel room for our last night in Windhoek since the tour ended one day earlier that we had expected. We missed an afternoon/evening in Etosha National Park, but at least had the next full-day there. We saw so much of Namibia - with just the two of us and our guide, driver, Lukas. It stated right on our paperwork that Day 1 of our tour was Feb. 25 and that the last of the tour was March 4, but that was a day off on both ends. Double check as you book your tour! Thank you!Show moreDiscovery Transfers and Tours commented on this reviewDear Nancy Thank you so much for the feedback, we highly appreciate your support. we are glad you had a great time amidst the mix-up in dates. - JTJocelyne· February 21st, 2023I had a great time on my tour. I happened to be on my own with my guide (Mr Lukas). I felt utterly safe and taken care of. Time flies when you're having fun so the tour will go by really fast so make sure to enjoy every single day. The country is beautiful and lots to see. Make sure to hydrate before going on the dunes. All in all, I would recommend this tour, especially to single woman thinking of adventuring to Namibia.Show moreDiscovery Transfers and Tours commented on this reviewDear Tsimi Thank you so much for the feedback. - VHVincent· January 3rd, 2021The company should have refunded me. I went to the tour alone with the guide Shawn on Christmas week, who spent most of his time on the phone and let me do most of the activities by myself, so I didn't have anyone to share what I was living. He was driving way too fast in the Etosha Natonial Park so scared many animals. No one told me at what time we will leave Windhoek the first day. So I ended waking up 3 hours before the guide showed up. Itineray not suitable for a group of only one person, since you do everything faster than if you are with people. One more thing: THROWING BEER CAN out of the car is simply INACCEPTABLE for an international guide!Show moreTrip date: December 2020
