  The scenery on the Northern Lakes and Dolomites tour was breathtaking! So happy that I took this tour. I have travelled in other parts of italy, but this was just amazing! I never realized how breautiful and diverse the country of Italy is. The tour was divided, so that I was with a group of four on the Northern Lakes portion of the tour, and a different group and guide during the Dolomites portion of the tour with seven other travellers. I had never been on a multilingual tour. Amazed at the ability of the guides to easily go from Italian to Spanish and then to English. Our guide/tour manager drove on the first leg of the tour, and a young driver drove our small bus on the second part of the tour. They were just outstanding drivers during very heavy rain. The tour guides were very caring and worked diligently to answer our questions about the scenery and Italy!

  It’s a perfect tour for senior folks, no rush with plenty time at each viewpoints. The routes are also excellent we enjoyed the trip very much since this was the first time for us to visit the Italian northern lakes and Dolomites area, a fantastic tour to give us a quick overview this beautiful area. Overall I rated this trip a five stars trip as some area could be improved such as the lodging but all hotels are at least 3 stars with private facilities. All hotel locations are very convenient.

  The tour was very much as advertised as far as the locations, activities, etc. There was a good balance of touring and free time. DD did a great job as our guide. She was caring and knowledgeable, and what she didn't know right away she found out and got back with us. She managed the group well (in three languages), kept us on time and made good suggestions for free-time activities.

  The Bus: One whole window section (2 double seats) were almost impossible to see out due to heavy condensation between the glass layers. Who ever got stuck with those seats missed the spectacular scenery. Not good. The Driver - Mauricio. Surly manner. At one stage was driving, talking on the phone and reading off a piece of paper - so dangerous! We had two very near misses when he did not give way. Often took the wrong road and got so lost in Cortina, took 45 minutes finding two hotels. Second driver Claudio was the exact opposite. Safe driver and pleasant, would help with luggage. The Guide - DiDi: Very pleasant lady and tried to be helpful, but we would pass through towns without any information or history of the area. Too many stops in small towns that had nothing to offer. DiDi seemed a little vague on where things were and sometimes had to ask directions from locals. A map of our route would have been helpful. Most hotels were satisfactory, but Cortina dated and noisy. A daily itinerary would have been good (rather than the trip itinerary handed to us on day one) giving details of our plans for the day, what to see and where to go/visit. Not just dropped off and told be back at a certain time. We mostly managed to work it out by ourselves after looking at google - so this does not make it a guided tour. The dual language was frustrating at times, so much time wasted standing around particularly in the extreme heat we encountered.The scenery of course was spectacular and the Dolomites magnificent. This is not just a gripe - we have visited over 70 countries and done hundreds of tours and had some fantastic experiences. This tour could have been better.
