Itinerary
- Day 1
Cairo
You'll land at Cairo International Airport where someone will meet you and help you through customs. From there, a private air-conditioned vehicle takes you to your budget hotel in Cairo. After you check in, the rest of the day is yours to settle in, walk around the neighborhood, or just relax. Your tour leader will go over the 8-day itinerary and give you practical information about exchanging money, where to eat locally, and what optional activities are available.

- Day 2
Aswan (sleeper train overnight)
Following breakfast at the hotel, you'll meet your private Egyptologist guide for a tour of Giza's monuments. You'll see the Great Pyramids of Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure, plus the Sphinx. After that, the Grand Egyptian Museum is next, where King Tutankhamun's treasures and other artifacts are on display. There's time for optional lunch and shopping. Later you'll head to the train station and board an overnight sleeper train to Aswan with dinner and breakfast included.

Aswan
Breakfast happens on the sleeper train as you arrive in Aswan. Your private guide meets you for a full day that starts with the High Dam, an engineering project that controls the Nile and created Lake Nasser. A short boat ride takes you to Philae Temple on Agilkia Island, dedicated to goddesses Isis and Hathor. Then you'll check out the Unfinished Obelisk, a massive granite piece in its ancient quarry showing how Egyptians carved stone. By lunchtime you're on your Nile cruise ship, where you can relax on the sundeck.

- Day 4
Edfu
Breakfast comes first on your Nile cruise as it moves toward Kom Ombo. Your Egyptologist guide shows you Kom Ombo Temple, which honors two gods: Sobek the crocodile god and Horus the falcon god. You'll see mummified crocodiles in the museum there and learn about the temple's symmetrical design. Back on the ship for lunch, you get panoramic Nile views. The cruise continues to Edfu where you ride a traditional carriage to the Temple of Horus, one of Egypt's best-preserved temples with tall columns and detailed hieroglyphs.

Luxor
Start with breakfast on your Nile cruise as it reaches Luxor, known as an open-air museum. Your private Egyptologist guide takes you through Karnak Temple Complex with its towering columns, sacred lakes, and intricate hieroglyphs. Next is Luxor Temple, positioned beautifully along the Nile with impressive statues, giant obelisks, and chapels from pharaohs like Amenhotep III and Ramses II. Return to the cruise for lunch and a quiet afternoon. If you're interested, there's an optional Sound and Light Show at Karnak Temple in the evening for an additional fee.

Cairo (sleeper train overnight)
After breakfast on your cruise, you'll cross the Nile to Luxor's West Bank with your private guide. The Valley of the Kings is where you'll find pharaohs like Tutankhamun buried in richly decorated tombs. The Temple of Queen Hatshepsut sits dramatically into the cliffs at Deir el-Bahari and is considered a masterpiece of ancient architecture. The Colossi of Memnon are giant statues that have stood guard for over 3,000 years. You'll have free time and an optional lunch before heading to the station for an overnight sleeper train back to Cairo with dinner and breakfast on board.

This day is optional. Following an early breakfast in Cairo, your private Egyptologist guide takes you to Egypt's earliest treasures. Saqqara shows the famous Step Pyramid of King Djoser, the world's first large-scale stone monument, plus ancient tombs with vivid wall carvings. Then you'll go to Memphis, the first capital of ancient Egypt, to see the giant limestone figure of Ramses II and the Alabaster Sphinx in an open-air museum. Back at your Cairo hotel, you can relax or do optional shopping at a nearby bazaar.

Enjoy a relaxed breakfast at your Cairo hotel on your final morning. Depending on when your flight leaves, you might have time for last-minute shopping at a nearby bazaar or simply unwind. At the arranged time, your private driver takes you in an air-conditioned vehicle to Cairo International Airport. Your tour representative will help with luggage and check-in so your departure goes smoothly.
