What people love about touring Scottish Highlands solo
- 3-Day Lewis, Harris and the Outer Hebrides Small-Group Tour from Inverness
Fabulous ‘first time’ mini coach break plus my first visit to the outer Hebrides with my 83 year old mum. The tour guide, Emily, was amazing, Eloquent, informative and passionate without overdoing the academics! In addition, I preferred the small group where we got to know each other and had fun chatting. I most certainly would recommend Rabbie’s tours. They took excellent care of us.
- 3-Day The North Coast 500 Small-Group Tour from Inverness
Thank you so much for the FANTASTIC NC500 tour with Willie (his first as well) The transportation, food and other guests on the "bus" were everything and more. I bonded with all of them and could not have asked for a better experience! Extra shout out to Lisa who runs the B&B I stayed in on the second night!!!!! she was the best :)
- Highlights of Scotland
My husband and I just returned from the Highlights of Scotland Tour. We had a great time! We would go back to Scotland again and soon! The country is beautiful, and the people are very friendly. The itinerary was great. Our introduction to Scotland, on this tour, covered a lot of ground. We did a loop around the country and were able to enjoy a lot of different landscapes. We enjoyed the activity level included in the tour as well. Our tour guide, Martin, was excellent. He is a native of Scotland and it was obvious that he loves his country. We would recommend this trip to anyone as long as they are active.
What our customers ask about Scottish Highlands Tours for Solo Travelers
How social are Scottish Highlands Mountain group tours for solo travelers?
The groups stay small with 8-16 travelers creating a comfortable social setting. About half the participants typically travel alone making it natural to form connections while exploring Glen Coe or the Isle of Skye. Highland Explorer Tours keeps their groups intimate with stays at local spots like the Caledonian Hotel in Portree and Ullaviews Guesthouse where travelers can easily connect. As one TourRadar traveler noted: "The small group size made it personal and comfortable and not rushed."
Which areas of the Scottish Highlands are best suited for solo travelers?
The towns of Portree Isle of Skye Fort William and Inverness welcome solo travelers with active social scenes. Each offers a mix of accommodations from the welcoming Skye Inn to the upscale Kingsmills Hotel. You'll find group activities ranging from hikes up the Old Man of Storr to boat excursions on Loch Ness. As shared by a TourRadar traveler: "Portree was a highlight with great seafood restaurants and friendly local pubs where we could all gather in the evenings."
What's the typical accommodation setup for solo travelers?
