7 Days in Bolivia, incl. La Paz and Uyuni Salt Flats
Bolivia unfolds across 3 major destinations in 7 days: La Paz's ancient ruins and modern cable cars, Uyuni's vast salt flats with sunset views at Incahuasi Island, and Eduardo Avaroa Reserve's five colored lagoons including the emerald Green Lagoon beneath Licancabur Volcano.

La Paz Arrival and Acclimatization
- Day 2
La Paz Exploration
Visit Tiwanaku Archaeological Temple first thing. It's about 1.5 hours from La Paz and getting there early helps you avoid the tour crowds. Bring sun protection since there's minimal shade. Back in the city you can explore the unique Witches' Market and Moon Valley's striking clay formations. Ride the cable car for great city views. It's a local form of transport that only costs $3 per trip.
- Day 3
Uyuni Salt Flats
Book an early flight to Uyuni to avoid typical afternoon weather delays. Your first stop will be Colchani village to see how locals process salt. As one visitor shared: "Bring sunglasses and water-resistant boots—the salt's glare is intense, and your feet will thank you." You can spend the night in a unique salt hotel where they build everything, even the beds, from salt blocks.
- Day 4
Desert and Lagoons
Start with the Train Cemetery before other tourists arrive. The roads get rough past San Cristóbal village so consider motion sickness medication. You'll visit several lagoons filled with flamingos and see the massive Ollague Volcano at 5,865m. Pack warm clothes since nighttime temperatures drop below freezing.
- Day 5
Colored Lagoons
Get up before sunrise to see Red Lagoon when the flamingos are most active. The Sol de Mañana geysers put on their best show in the cold morning air. Don't forget swimwear for the Polques hot springs. Soaking at 35°C while at 4,500m elevation is something special. Green Lagoon looks its best before midday.

Visit the Basilica de San Francisco first. The Mi Teleférico cable car system will take you to Mirador Killi Killi. Go before noon to catch clear mountain views. - Day 1
La Paz Arrival & Acclimatization
- Day 2
Tiwanaku Archaeological Site
Take a 1.5-hour drive west to Tiwanaku. Start your morning at the Ceramic Museum before it gets too hot. Visit the semi-subterranean temple and Kalasasaya complex in the morning when the light is perfect for photos. Pack a hat and sunscreen since you'll be at 13,000 feet with strong UV rays. Head back to La Paz in the late afternoon.
- Day 3
Uyuni Salt Flats
Catch a quick 45-minute flight to Uyuni. Start in Colchani village to check out traditional salt processing. Your 4x4 adventure begins on the salt flats - bring sunglasses, you'll need them. Walk around Incahuasi Island to see massive cacti, but watch your step on the uneven ground. Stay for a beautiful sunset when the salt creates mirror reflections. You'll spend the night in simple lodging in Colcha K or San Juan. It gets cold after dark, so pack accordingly.
- Day 4
Desert and Lagoons
Start early with a visit to the Train Cemetery before other tourists arrive. Get ready for a bumpy 4-hour drive to Laguna Colorada. Consider motion sickness pills if you need them. You'll spot flamingos at several high-altitude lagoons along the way. Stop for photos at the unique rock formations in the Siloli Desert. Your night will be in basic desert accommodation - bring warm clothes as temperatures often drop below freezing.
- Day 5
Red and Green Lagoons
Get up early to see the Stone Tree and Red Lagoon in the best morning light. Visit the Sol de Mañana geysers at dawn when they're most active, but stay back as the ground isn't stable. You can take a swim in the Polques hot springs if you want - just remember your swimsuit and sandals. Spend your afternoon at Green Lagoon with views of Licancabur Volcano. Head back to Uyuni to sleep in a salt hotel.
- Day 6
Return to La Paz & City Tour
Fly back to La Paz in the morning. Take a city tour in the afternoon, including rides on the cable cars for great views. Browse the Witches' Market but ask before taking photos out of respect. Visit Moon Valley's clay spires in the late afternoon light. End your day watching sunset at Killi Killi viewpoint.

What people love about 7-day Bolivia tours
- Overland San Pedro de Atacama to Uyuni and La Paz (6 Nights) (from Calama to La Paz)
The tour was amazing, all the days I enjoyed a new view, and everything covered my expectations.
- 6 DAYS BOLIVIA TOUR HIGHLIGHTS
I would do it again, with some extra days. The only negative experience was the transport to Tiahuanaco …. terrible minibus for 12 people!
- 5 Days Uyuni Salt Flats and Colorfull Lagoons from La Paz, Bolivia
We booked with this company for the good reviews we have read and we are not mistaken, all the service was excellent, from the moment of the reservation until the last minute of our contact with them, even when the service ended, they contacted us to ask As we were on the trip. Also the places to visit are spectacular, white salres and colorful lagoons. Recommendable.
