Camping Australia Trip Reviews
- Outback Camping Adventure
It was an excellent tour if your looking for a hands-on camping experience. the activities were numerous with walks, swimming, abseiling , whale watching, helicopter rides etc if you so chose to partake. Adam our guide was extremely knowledgeable and catered for every ones needs. He made sure everybody was welcome and made to feel special.
- Outback Camping Adventure (ex Yulara)
The tour was perfect, Matt and Bella were great guides and made the trip so special.
- Kimberley 21 Day "Nulla Nulla" 4WD Camping Safari
This was an amazing tour. We saw everything! The Bungle Bungles was amazing and our own infinity pool at the top of Bell Gorge was something I will always remember. What I liked best about this tour is that we went up to the Dampier Peninsula and saw some amazing coastline. Most of the tours I reviewed didn't include this. The rock pool castle was fantastic. I also liked that we were in proper 4WD's and not on a bus. I didn't know if I could camp for 21 days but by the end we were so used to setting up it was like second nature. I would do another tour like this.
What our customers ask about Camping Holidays in Australia
When is the best time to go camping in Australia's outback regions?
For comfortable outback camping in Australia plan your trip between April and October. During these months the weather is mild and predictable especially in popular areas like the Red Centre and Flinders Ranges. At Uluru temperatures hover around 20-25°C during the day making exploration pleasant. "Between June and August nighttime temperatures can drop below zero so make sure to bring appropriate sleeping gear for a comfortable sleep." These cooler months provide reliable conditions for outdoor activities and stargazing.
What wildlife might I encounter while camping in Australia?
Australia's outback offers regular wildlife sightings particularly during the quiet hours of dawn and dusk. The West MacDonnell Ranges are known for their rock wallabies dingoes and varied bird species. "At Ormiston Gorge we saw yellow-footed rock wallabies and at dawn near Uluru we encountered kangaroos and various desert birds." While most Australian wildlife keeps its distance visitors should maintain respectful spacing for safety.
How are meals handled during Australian camping tours?
Food service varies by tour with meals prepared by guides or through group participation at campsites. The 8-Day Adelaide to Uluru Tour includes 7 breakfasts 4 lunches and 4 dinners. "The food was amazing - our guide prepared fantastic meals even in remote locations like Karijini National Park and we had great barbecues under the stars at Ayers Rock Resort Campground." Tours can accommodate dietary restrictions with advance notice.
How physically demanding are camping tours in Australia?
Physical requirements depend on the tour but most need moderate fitness. Daily walks range from 2-6 kilometers including notable treks like the Kings Canyon Rim Walk (6km) and Valley of the Winds Walk at Kata Tjuta. "The hiking was manageable with regular breaks and our guide at Karijini National Park always ensured everyone was comfortable with the pace." Some walks require carrying up to 3 liters of water.
What cultural experiences are included in Australian camping tours?
Tours connect visitors with Aboriginal culture through guided walks rock art visits and traditional owner insights. Programs at Uluru focus on Anangu culture while Kimberley tours often visit Aboriginal heritage sites. "Our guide shared incredible knowledge about the Aboriginal culture and dreamtime stories making the experience much more meaningful."
