What people love about Puerto Maldonado Tours
- Puerto Maldonado Amazon Superior Lodge 3D/2N (from Puerto Maldonado)
The trip was advertised as 3D/2N We were transported from the Airport straight to The Lodge by a Tour Bus and then motorised canoe, being given very little information during the journey. We arrived at the Lodge mid morning and did not go to the Butterfly House. We had a very brief introduction, followed by lunch at about 13.00 and the first real activity started at 15.00, meaning that the first day was a HALF DAY The second day was excellent. On the third day there was no scheduled activity (unless you paid extra) and we were required to check out at 09.30, before leaving for transportation by motorised canoe to Puerto Maldonado at 10.30. We were taken to the Butterfly House and allowed to spend about 15 minutes there before being taken to the Airport by about 11.30 (in fact, we were then driven to our Hotel in Puerto Maldonado - the other people caught flights). This meant that the third day was again, in the main, a travelling day Our guide Alan was EXCELLENT - the other guides we had were not in the same league WiFi was only available in the Main Lodge, which was not very convenient - installation of very cost effective WiFi range extenders would ensure that this service was available in the personal accommodation. Electricity is not provided for 24 hours each day and this means that there is not continual hot water or fan air circulation (an acceptable form of air conditioning - necessary when the temperature is 35+ centigrade with humidity greater than 60%) We felt that the Lodge was heavily over staffed with waiters (mainly false and effusive) We were AMAZED to find that we were charged 12 Soles for a 330 ml bottle of "sin gas water", without being told that unlimited "filtered water" was provided free of charge! We were also AMAZED to find that we were charged 12 Soles for a cup of hot water and a Manzanilla tea bag! In essence it was, at best, a 2D/2N trip and therefore over represented and EXPENSiVE
- 4 days 3 nights – Peruvian Tambopata Jungle
This was a highlight of our Peru trip. Our guide Carlos was fun and very knowledgeable about all the plants and animals we were seeing. The food was great and the rooms were clean and comfortable.
- 3 days - Tambopata Amazon Jungle
Ronald our guide was excellent Accomodation and food were great too Just be aware the itinery is flexible due to weather and joining with other groups for activities... This was not a problem for us
