- David· January 26th, 2024Cucemba Lodge was relaxing in a jungle environment. Lodge is very rustic with limited power availability but a place to spend down time for yourself. Good menu limited too. Great daily eco-tours and jungle/river trips day and night seeing flora and wild animals - especially the pink and gray dolphins! Our guide, Nestor, is a very knowledgeable about plants, animals, indigenous communities and culture/history.Show more

Flights are not included in the discounted price. We recommend booking a multi-city ticket from Cusco-Puerto Maldonado-Lima. Direct flights between these cities are limited and do not operate daily.

We stay at Corto Maltes Lodge. There is not extensive hiking in the Amazon, just day walks. You cannot venture out on your own as it's a protected area. There is 1 nocturnal tour to see alligators (caimans) by boat. For extensive hiking, Cusco is recommended.

Flights are not included in this price. Malaria is not a risk if you are staying for only 4 days in the jungle. LIM-PEM is about a 1 hr flight one way.

Flights to Puerto Maldonado (PEM) are not included in our price. You'll want to get 1 ticket: LIM-PEM-CUZ-LIM rather than roundtrip to the Amazon from Cusco. You will need a triple cabin (not a room) so you can all stay together.

Is the bus a possible option for travelling back from Puerto Maldonado to Cusco? Our son is 8; I just wanted to check the tour is suitable for an 8 year old?

We have space March 10-14. CUZ-PEM & PEM-CUZ direct flights are limited to Monday mornings. There is a Cusco-Puerto Maldonado bus but we would not take this bus and never with a child. It's 9-10 hrs from sea-level Amazon to 11,000 ft Cusco on a 2 lane road with many speed bumps. Amazon jungle lodge tours are great for children, with nocturnal boat tour to see alligators, many bugs, birds and monkey island.

Direct LATAM flights from Cusco to Pem are not available since the pandemic. Flights are now: CUZ-LIM-PEM & PEM-LIM-CUZ. What was normally a 30 minute flight is now a 1/2 day or more of travel.
