Arrival to Monte Amazonico Lodge
You'll get picked up at the airport or bus station and head to the Monte Amazonico Lodge office for an initial briefing about what's ahead. From there, a boat ride takes you out to the lodge itself. Once you've settled into your room and had a welcome drink, the afternoon is when things get interesting. A guide takes you on an introductory hike through the rainforest where you can watch for toucans, monkeys, and butterflies moving through the trees. Before dinner, there's a trip over to Monkey Island to see different monkey species up close, and then you'll search for caimans along the river after dark.

The water and surrounding area are good spots to see birds, monkeys, giant river otters, and if you're lucky, some large caimans.
