- Day 1
Uluru Sacred Sites & Sunset
Book a morning flight from Sydney or Melbourne to arrive at Ayers Rock Airport before 1:30 PM. A free shuttle takes you to your accommodation in about 15 minutes. Start at the Uluru-Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre to learn about the site's spiritual importance. Take the base tour of Uluru featuring spots like the Mutitjulu Waterhole. Wear shoes with good grip since the red dirt paths can get slippery. Watch the sunset from the designated viewing area and bring warm clothes for when temperatures drop after dark.
- Day 2
Kata Tjuta & Double Uluru Views
Get up early for sunrise at Talinguru Nyakunytjaku viewing platform (5 AM in summer, 6:30 AM in winter). The 20-minute drive in the dark is worth it for the morning light show. Bring water and breakfast since there are no cafes at the viewing spot. Drive 45 minutes to Kata Tjuta and walk the 1.3km Walpa Gorge trail before it gets too hot. The massive red rock domes offer little shade. Rest at your accommodation during the afternoon heat then go out for another Uluru sunset.
- Day 3
Field of Light & Departure
Start your last day around 4:30 AM to see Bruce Munro's Field of Light installation. Walk among 50,000 glowing glass spheres before watching one final Uluru sunrise from the dune viewing area. Book flights after 9:30 AM to fit everything in. Bring a light source for walking the dark paths through the installation.
3 Day Uluru Adventure ex Yulara
Uluru sunrise walks, Kings Canyon's Garden of Eden, and Kata Tjuta's 36 domes highlight this three-day tour. Cultural experiences at Maruku Arts complement comfortable camping under desert stars. The tour covers 4 major destinations for approx. $210 per day.

3 Day Australia's Red Centre Itinerary, incl. Kings Canyon and West MacDonnell Ranges
A three-day Red Centre journey from Yulara to Alice Springs features treks along Kings Canyon's rim, swimming at Ellery Creek Big Hole, and visits to Aboriginal sites like Angkerle Atwatye, with comfortable safari camping throughout.
- Day 1
Yulara to Kings Canyon (406 km)
Plan for a 4.5-hour drive from Yulara to Kings Canyon. You'll want to leave early to beat the heat and stock up on water and snacks since shops are sparse in the outback. The afternoon includes a 2-4 hour guided walk based on weather conditions. Your night at the remote Kings Canyon campsite offers either safari tents or traditional swags (canvas bedrolls). Remember to bring a power bank since electricity is limited at the campsites.
- Day 2
Kings Canyon to West MacDonnell Ranges (370 km)
Get an early start on the Kings Canyon rim walk before the heat sets in. The first part "Heart Attack Hill" is the most challenging so take your time and bring at least 2 liters of water. The next leg is a 4-hour drive on Mereenie Loop Road if conditions allow. While the road is rough it offers great views of the MacDonnell Ranges. You'll spend the night camping under Mount Sonder where the night sky puts on an incredible show.
- Day 3
West MacDonnell Ranges to Alice Springs
Your final day explores the West MacDonnell Ranges. Start with a morning walk at Ormiston Gorge then visit the Ochre Pits to learn about their cultural significance. When it warms up take a refreshing swim at Ellery Creek Big Hole. The water stays cool no matter the season. End your day visiting Standley Chasm (Angkerle Atwatye) and Simpsons Gap before arriving in Alice Springs.
