- WWendy· December 26th, 2023If you are over forty forget G adventures. You’ll be treated with disrespect, risk getting booted from the trek with NO financial compensation if you happen to be part of a group of 20 year olds- something over which you have no control. This is because there is a minimum pace you have to maintain (this info is not in the descriptions). That pace is set by the group composition. That means that although you are fully capable of completing the hikes in reasonable time but not at the pace of a 20-something, you still risk getting booted from the trip. The guides are arrogant and insensitive. And. As an aside, the food is quite awful. And I repeat-if you are asked to leave at their discretion - they refuse to refund your very considerable fees. Avoid G Adventures!!!Show moreG Adventures commented on this reviewWe are so sorry to hear that you had this experience. - ZLZoe· March 22nd, 2023Automatic translation available in English. View in EnglishThe tour itself is really good, but just short and shorter than advertised - 3.5 days instead of 6. To advertise the first day as the beginning of the tour I find questionable, because we had original only ekne half hour introductory talk, nothing else. For this it is then dkch quite expensive. It would be good if that is more adequately clear in the description, transparency would be helpful here. Because the tour itself is always worth it.Show moreG Adventures commented on this reviewHi Zoe, Thank you for your constructive feedback. I appreciate it.Trip date: March 2023
- GGiancarloBollero· January 2nd, 2023The feeling of having been ripped off ruined a good part of the holiday. Several things were different from advertised, which makes a big difference when you think you are going with the best possible agent and find yourself being offered the lowest and cheapest possible option: (1) They advertise a 6 day trip, it was really 3.5. Surely they do it to sweeten the cost at the time of booking (2) what was described and identified as “Hotel” for the first and last night was then changed to “Hostel” (equivalent to motel in US). I checked the price to compare the two, and obviously the Hostel was c.40% cheaper.. GA fattening their margins. P.s. On top of it all, the breakfast ahead of the first /longest day offered at the Hostel was just terrible (3) what was advertised as refugio or tent was then firmly tent. Not any tent though, the cheapest possible tent (fyi refugios offer different kinds of tents, some better than others). Last night we found ourselves with a tent leaking water, set up on a sliding surface (4) upon arrival we received a leaflet showing the services provided throughout the trip. For the hostel days we were shown the option of Laundry. Obviously when we returned the last day we were said laundry wasn’t available.. (5) last but not least, the plan was changed for the last day: what should have been a 11km hike to reach lake Grey and a boat trip to see the glacier was cut short… by the rush and explanation of the guide it looked like he was in a rush to get back to the base. Leaving the 3.5day trip a real disappointment In conclusion, don’t trust GAdventure. They are good at advertising, but the value of their trips is much lower than you are paying for!Show moreG Adventures commented on this reviewHi Giancarlo, Thank you for taking the time to send through your constructive feedback. Asked on January 21st, 2024Will they carry our stuff? What is the weight limit? What are we supposed to carry? I like to bring CAMERA EQUIPMENT and LENSES, and need to know weight limits, etc., and that there will be people (porters) carrying the majority of my stuff? Will there be any charging facility at the campsites? What will be shower and toilet facility? Will there be any laundry facility at the hotels? In your description you have mentioned about rent all equipment needed for the hike, what are these equipments?
- G AdventuresOperator•Written January 2024
All camping equipment for the Torres del Paine trek is provided and included in the cost of your trip. You will be required to carry only what you need for the day in your day pack. Any luggage not required for the hike will be left at the hotel in Puerto Natales. A drybag will be carried by porters with your sleeping bag (included on the trip) and extra things you may need for the campsites such as pajamas, extra clothing, extra snacks, flip-flops, etc. There is a maximum weight of 2.5 kgs that you can take in the drybag. If your dry bag (including camera and lenses) weigh more than 2.5kg, we recommend that you carry your own camera, lenses and so on. Electricity is usually not readily available at the campsites due to the remote location and nature of this tour.
