- Hans· January 16th, 2025Where to begin….this 14-day Ecuador/Amazon/Galapagos trip was AMAZING and exceeded our expectations. An extremely professional company from the minute we inquired about this Active tour, adding a 2 day extension to our Galapagos portion and bringing us back to Quito, we can’t say enough great things about Diego who organized the tour for us. We booked last minute Dec 2, 2024 and decided to make it a 3 week trip with exploring Mindo cloud forest on our own (which we also highly recommend) and left Canada on Dec 31st! Jorge, our amazing and professional, friendly guide took us on a 5 day Ecuador mainland loop that included mountain biking in Banos, river rafting in the Amazon (super spectacular) and many a hike along the way. Jorge’s knowledge about absolutely everything brought new knowledge to us about beautiful Ecuador. We always felt safe and cared for. Jorge became a friend who we hope to see again in the future. When it came to our departure from Quito to Galapagos, Milton made sure we passed through the gates at the airport with all the Galapagos requirements and all went as smooth as can be. When we landed in San Cristobal we were met by our beautiful, intelligent and amazing Indira! AJ sure knows how to pick their guides…as all of them become our friends and family so quickly. Highlights were plentiful: Kicker Rock snorkelling with hammerheads, rays, sea turtles; sea lions now have a special place with us; Isabela Isl with it’s Sierra Negra crater hike; biking to Wall of Tears and seeing the huge tortoises in the wild; Santa Cruz’s Tortuga Bay - stunning! El Chato tortoise reserve….can’t fit it all in this space. The accommodations and food were all very good as well. Thank you, AJ, for giving us the time of our lives. We will be back for sure!Show more
- Diane· October 11th, 2024We had a number of different guides but it was very well organized and everyone was on time. It seemed like the schedule changed several times and there was at times a number of activities in one day. We walked uphill in the morning and then snorkeling and more walking in the afternoon. Would have liked to have had things stretched out a bit more. You can of course opt out of activities. Navigating to the hotels is no problem from anywhere in town. The first hotel was a very nice facility but the street light was at the height of the room and could keep you awake. The staff all spoke English and were very helpful. The second hotel was a bit worn. The staff did not speak English,Show more
- Diane· October 8th, 2024Great tour. We saw everything from waterfalls to the Amazon basin to the highest point on earth. The tour is flexible with some free time so you can do class 4 white water rafting or a day at the spa. Everything was very well organized and went very smoothly thanks to our excellent tour guide, Raphael Arevalo. He was extremely knowledgeable about history, nature and culture. He answered all questions some before you knew to ask. The hotel accommodations were almost all higher class. The Hacienda Anadalusia was one stand out. It was the nicest room I have ever had. The property is beautiful with gardens, llamas and rabbits you can feed. I highly recomend this trip.Show more

Traveler•Written November 2024I would like to get a close budget estimate for the trip which i will need help with. Per person; Tour = $4250 ($4080 if i get a group of 6) Round trip Flight from Portland OR = $800 Round trip flight Quito to Galapagos = $550. I see minimal food is provided so i need an idea of cost for the various days where breakfasts and/or lunches and/or dinners arent provided. What is tipping etiquette for; - tour guide(s) -food services. What are other expected costs (other than personal souvenirs)
- Adventure JourneysOperator•Written November 2024
Tipping is not mandatory but generally expected. There is an official 10% service tax. For guides, drivers, and tourism services: $10 US dollars for guide in Mainland Ecuador, $5 for driver, $10 for naturalistic guide in Galapagos (per person per day). Not included costs: International flights, Galapagos Ingala Card - $20 USD, Galapagos National Park Fee - $200 USD, Isabela Pier Fee - $10 USD, Airport transfers, Travel insurance, Meals not in itinerary - estimated $160 USD, Tips - estimated $160 USD.

Traveler•Written December 2024Next question- it seems there are many "on sale" opportunities ie 30% -50% off opportunities plus you have a "lay away" option where a person(s) can bank money towards the vacation. Since the 6 of us (yes, now 6 and possibly more) are definitely coming June 2027. 1. How do we take advantage of one of the specials now/very soon verses having to gamble and wait until 2026? 2. If we use the lay away program, what happens if a person(s) has to drop out? 3. 6 of us are definitively going = how would lodging, activities, etc be arranged to keep us together? 4. With 6 of us definitely going, there must be some decent advantages ie discounts, etc What are those incentives?
- Adventure JourneysOperator•Written December 2024
As the program will be for 2027, we can not assure how prices will vary. We are happy to offer a special discount to be applied closer to the date. All activities and lodging will be arranged for the group. Private tour and accommodation in double rooms, some activities will be shared, but the group will stay together. We can start with a deposit per person to separate hotel spots. Base rate is USD 4080 per person (6 people travelling), with complementary Transfer IN for arrival to Quito.

Traveler•Written March 2022On what airline is the round trip fare $535 to the Galapogos - I assume it is to Quito, Ecuador.
- Adventure JourneysOperator•Written March 2022
The airline that we mostly use is Latam, sometimes we use Avianca, it depends on the availability, and yes the flight departs from Quito to Baltra and on the way back is Baltra to Quito.

Traveler•Written March 2022What cruise line or ship is the vacation booked on? How many days on land and how many days on the water? What are the land accommodations?
- Adventure JourneysOperator•Written March 2022
This tour is only by land, there are no cruises involved, if you want a cruise we can totally help you with that option too.
- M
Mark
Traveler•Written March 2022What are the hotel accommodations and room type for the land tour? What are the average costs for tours that are a combination of land and sea? We would like to spend about a week or 10 days between Columbia and the Galapogos.
- Adventure JourneysOperator•Written March 2022
The average cost for the Galapagos cruise can go from $4000 to $9000 per person, depending on the number of days and type of cruise. For the land accommodation in Quito, it will be Swissotel, for Galapagos in Isabela could be Cormorant or Isamar in Standard rooms and in Santa Cruz will be Silberstein or similar, in the Ecuatorian Amazon it will be Itamandi, all in standard rooms.
