- ABAriel· March 4th, 2023All and all trip was good it is a very busy go go not a lot of time at all the places we stop but your get a good “appetizer” of the many things to do in these areas. Food options are not great if you’re a foodie. Most places we stop for food don’t have nice restaurants to eat at. But if you’re just really wanting to see the towns and the Rockies tons of great views just wish we had a little more time in some places. Please continue reading for my tips to future travelers. Things I think would be important things to add for type a personalities or big time planner or even people that need to budget their meals ect would be : - [ ] Hotels we stay at so food options could be researched (towns didn’t help me as much as I had hoped Lyft and Uber was near impossible to get) - [ ] Additional excursions offered at stops and their prices (like the ice skating sleigh rides ect.) - [ ] Approximated time in specific areas to help those that want to make reservations for other experiences or dinners ect - [ ] I had to specifically ask about additional excursions after booking to be sent to me. - [ ] Huge confusion between west trek tours and discover Canada tours didn’t know who to even reach out to - [ ] Typical Drive time between places and putting on list of things to bring such as snacks and waters ect - [ ] Other items to suggest to bring cough drops for dry air, tissues for runny nose, chapstick for cracked lips and lotion for cracked hands. Below are some things I would correct on the tour information so others don’t get disappointed. Check into the hotel in Vernon and make your way to SilverStar Mountain Resort for FREE snow tubing & ice skating SHOULD SAY “OR” Upon return to the hotel, option to go to the adjoining casino SHOULD SAY ACROSS STREET or pub (19+ only) or relax in the hotel pool and hot tub after an active day outside Day 2: Vernon to Banff Breakfast (included) After breakfast depart hotel Drive through the beautiful snow-capped peaks of Mount Revelstoke National Park & Glacier National Park Visit Roger's Pass National Historic Site Arrive at the world renowned Lake Louise and visit Chateau Lake Louise with the option to go ice skating, play hockey or go on a sleigh ride! (seasonal) SHOULD NOT OFFER IF NOT ALWAYS ABLE TO DO OR PUT MORE STIPULATIONS Drive to Banff and enjoy a city tour including Banff Springs Hotel, Bow Falls, Surprise Corner, and Banff Ave. SHOULD SAY VISIT ONE OF THESE OR BE MORE SPECIFIC Check into your centrally located Banff hotel Evening - Free time to go shopping on Banff Avenue or join your guide for a night of dancing Day 3: Banff to Golden Breakfast (included) Option to go on the Banff Gondola Skiers and Snowboarders depart for Lake Louise Mountain Resort. There is also the option for non-skiers to take the Lake Louise Sightseeing Gondola for amazing views of the surrounding mountains. AGAIN ONLY OFFER IF POSSIBLE OR PUT TO NOTIFY AHEAD TO COORDINATE ECT For those not skiing/snowboarding, check out of the hotel and enjoy free time to explore the town of Banff. You also have the option to participate in another exciting winter activity like dog mushing, snowshoeing, ice walking, and more! WHAT IS MORE AND DOG MUSHING WASN’T MENTIONEDShow moreTrip date: January 2023
- Rona· March 3rd, 2023Great tour! I would recommend it! Highlights as follows: 1. Great Tour Lead Chris ensured everyone was comfortable, and he was fun, informative, polite/respectful! He is great! Great people skills! 2. Mr. Yee – our driver. Drove us safely and back! Could not have asked for a more skilled driver. Ace driver, given the varying road conditions with rain and snowfall we encountered. 3. Comments on the activities we did: 1. We did tubing for 2 hours before calling it a night in Vernon. Two hours were plenty to enjoy the stop. The activity was free to enjoy for everyone. Has the option to ice skate on a smaller frozen lake. Also for free 2. Day 2 in Banf – we did have the option to ice skate in Lake Louis. Optional at the cost of CAD 24.99. Spent a chunk of time walking to the rental store inside the chateau to registering and getting our skate shoes. After we got our shoes and were ready to skate, we had little time to ice skate and enjoyed the frozen Lake Louise. 3. We did have some time at night to stroll around Banf center 4. Day 3 – option to ski at Lake Louise Ski Resort (can rent ski clothing and equipment for a fee of abt $150~. The ski lift is $50-100. For non-skiers, they offered optional activities for a fee - e.g., snowshoeing/hiking in the AM and Gondola in the PM. You also have the option to go around town on your own at no extra cost. They give you plenty of information, and you can ask questions to decide what you want to do for Day 3. Somehow you could only pick one option. Wish they could allow doing more than one option, e.g., doing one AM activity and then doing a PM activity with no conflict in time. If you plan to ski, you spend your day at the ski resort until the bus comes and picks you up. You have to plan for how to store your luggage since you will go on a different shuttle for the ski resort. You may have to arrange to leave your luggage with someone in the group so it’s on the bus and you don’t carry it with you to the resort. The Lake Louise Ski Resort was top-notched! 5. We end day 3 in Golden. 6. Day 4 It’s pretty much driving back to Vancouver. Chris was great at keeping us informed/entertained for that long drive back. Props to Mr. Yee as well. 7. We did stop at two frozen lakes as bonus stops. One is in Banf, and the other is the Emerald Lake. It was almost magical at the time of the visit to Emerald Lake because it was snowing pretty heavily, and we were walking on a frozen, snow-covered lake! Beautiful! We had a group picture here. 8. Lots of driving, which usually is the deal with types of tours. I am used to this type of tour. I take this type of tour all the time. So be in that mindset. 9. Overall I enjoyed the tour a lot! I enjoyed this part of Canada! My first was on a frozen lake! So thank you! On a side note, a big thank you to Mr. Yee. He knew we were spending two more days in Vancouver and gave us the best tip on maximizing the 24-hour hop-off hop-on tour. If you care to know, here are his tips. 1. Go to Gas town first (on your own). Get your picture of the Steam Clock. Go there before the hour because, at the hour, the clock will whistle and will blow off steam. You don’t want to miss this. 2. After you are done with Gastown, you walk to Canada Place. It is only like 5-6 minute walk. You get your ticket there. You start the hop-hop-off tour here. 3. Then stop and explore for a certain amt of time: 1. Stanley Park, 2. Granville Park, and 3. Chinatown. Explore the other stops if you have time, based on your interest.Show moreWest Trek Tours Inc. commented on this reviewHello Rona, Thank you so much for this amazing review! - TBTracey· February 26th, 2023I think our expectations of this tour were set too high. We are adit travellers and have enjoyed many tours with other companies always having great experiences. Asked on February 4th, 2025We were wondering if we could return at an earlier time. We have a flight from Vancouver back to Sydney at 7pm but would love to do this tour. Is there an option?
- West Trek Tours Inc.Operator•Written February 2025
Unfortunately, we're unable to accommodate your request at this time. As this is a public scheduled tour, we can't adjust the itinerary for individual needs. The tour is scheduled to return at 7:30 PM. You're welcome to leave the tour early if necessary, but please note that we won't be able to offer a refund for any portion of the tour you don't participate in. Additionally, you'll need to arrange your own transportation from Banff or Golden to Vancouver, which is quite a long drive.

Asked on January 24th, 2025Could you please confirm if there is availability for this tour for one solo traveller? Additionally, can you advise if the departure is guaranteed?
- West Trek Tours Inc.Operator•Written January 2025
I can confirm that we still have availability for 1 solo traveller on our Rockies Winter Explorer tour, departing on March 14th, 2025. This tour isn't guaranteed to depart, but typically, most participants are ESL students aged 15-35 or people who are young at heart. They usually book the Explorer tour with us 2-3 weeks in advance, and cancellations for our Rockies tour are rare.

Asked on December 30th, 2024What currency is the price in? Do I get a private room or share a room with another person on the four day tour around Canada?
- West Trek Tours Inc.Operator•Written December 2024
The price depends on your location. If you see CA before the dollar sign, it's Canadian dollars. For accommodation, you can choose between a Private Single Room (just for you) or a Twin Room where you share with another person.

Asked on October 24th, 2024I'm travelling alone, do you assign a room for me and share with the other people? Are the rates inclusive of a round trip ticket? I'm from Toronto.
- West Trek Tours Inc.Operator•Written October 2024
When you select the "own bed" room type option, we would pair you with someone in the room with the same gender and you would share the bathroom. If you prefer to have your private room, you would need to select "private single room". Flights are not included.

Asked on August 12th, 2024Is it possible to join the group on day 2, as I have another trip before this one departs? If I miss the 1st day, what will happen to the rest of my itinerary and what alternatives are there in place?
- West Trek Tours Inc.Operator•Written August 2024
We are leaving Vernon early in the morning on day 2 and you might miss out on visiting Lake Louise and most of Banff. If you can make it in Vernon in the morning, then you won't miss that much as day 1 is mostly traveling, but you will miss out on snow tubing at the resort.

Traveler•Written September 2024Am I able to check into my hotel rooms in Vernon and Golden if I am only 18 (and the check-in age requirement in BC is 19)?

As you are going on tour with a tour guide, the guide will check you in the hotel. So, there are no issues there.

Traveler•Written January 2025Are there any documents I will need copies of, to prove I am part of the tour and therefore be allowed onboard the coach and in the hotels? Also, where can I find my Banff national park pass since it's included?
- West Trek Tours Inc.Operator•Written January 2025
The only document we provide is the confirmation email you received at the time of booking. On the day of departure, our coordinator/guide will assist with your check-in and guide you to board the bus. They will also handle the check-in process at your hotel and ensure you have access to the national park during the trip.
