Itinerary
- Day 1
Arrival
You'll arrive in Morocco and head to your accommodation via transfer. While the tour itself skips Casablanca, if you come in early there's plenty to see - walk through the medina, check out the beachfront, and look at the Art Deco buildings around the city. The Hassan II Mosque is worth a visit and they offer guided tours throughout the day if you have time before heading out.

Volubilis - Fez
This is a full day of driving and exploration. You'll start with a guided tour of Meknes, an imperial capital from the 1600s and one of Morocco's four Imperial cities. From there, head to the Roman ruins at Volubilis to see ancient columns and well-preserved mosaics. Later you'll drive to Fez, stop for lunch at a G Adventures-supported women's cooperative, then check into your hotel. Fair warning - it's a long, busy day with quite a bit of time in the car.

Fez
Start your morning with a guided walk through Fez's medieval medina, a 9th century UNESCO World Heritage site. You'll navigate past donkey carts through crowded spice markets and ceramic workshops. The Madrasa al-Attarine is a stop for its intricate Islamic architecture, and you'll pass by the Al-Karaouine Mosque, which houses the world's longest continuously operating university. During the afternoon, watch traditional tanners working on leather by hand.

Landmarks/POIs Fez Medina Madrasa al-Attarine Al-Karaouine Mosque - Day 4
Fez to Merzouga
You'll travel through the Middle Atlas Mountains where cedar forests gradually transition into palm groves and desert. Drive through Ifrane's ski area, head down into the Ziz Valley with its vast palm groves, and keep an eye out for Barbary apes. By evening you'll reach your kasbah-style hotel right at the edge of the Saharan sand dunes.

Merzouga to Tinghir
Take a 4x4 out into the Sahara and visit the village of Khamliya to meet Gnaoua musicians and learn about this famous Moroccan music genre with a live performance. You'll share traditional mint tea with Amazigh nomads and hear about their desert lifestyle. Later in the evening, transfer to Tinghir.

Tinghir to Ouarzazate
Begin in the morning exploring Dades Gorge with its dramatic rock formations. Drive along the scenic 'Route of 1,000 Kasbahs' and visit Taourirt Kasbah with its maze-like layout. Then continue to Ouarzazate, a former Foreign Legion stronghold that's home to one of Morocco's largest film studios.

Ouarzazate to Marrakech
Head to Ait Ben Haddou, an ancient fortified village and UNESCO World Heritage site with winding lanes and narrow passageways throughout. From there, drive through the Tizi n'Tichka pass (2200m/7,220ft) in the High Atlas Mountains on winding roads to reach Marrakech. You'll have free time to explore this legendary city that blends Amazigh, West African, Mediterranean, and Arab influences together.

Marrakech
Start your day with a hands-on cooking class in a historic riad where you'll learn to roll semolina and measure spices for traditional tagines, then have what you made for lunch. After that, the afternoon is yours to explore Marrakech at your own pace. Check out the Djemaa el-Fna square with its storytellers and magicians, visit the Majorelle Gardens, or wander through the famous souks shopping for spices, traditional clothing, and Moroccan lanterns.
