What our customers ask about this tour
The content in our FAQ section is subject to change.- M

Asked on November 15th, 2024Is the tour confirmed if I book? Is there a supplement if I am travelling alone? Would I have to share the room/tent? I will have to check some emails from time to time. Is there some moments during the trip when I would be able to access them? Is there some specific documentations or visas I should be aware of?
- Acacia Adventure HolidaysOperator•Written November 2024
A decision will be made next week. No there is no single supplement. Accommodation on tour is twin share, providing we have another solo traveller of the same sex for you to share with. If we dont then you will have a tent to yourself. Most campsites have internet access; some offer it free, other campsite make a small charge. Most clients require visa for Zimbabwe, and Tanzania and a Yellow Fever Vaccination Certificate for Zanzibar but actual requirements depend on your nationality. Currently both Zimbabwe and Tanzanian visas can be obtained on tour. There is a mandatory insurance that all visitors must purchase online for Zanzibar, approximate cost USD 40.

Traveler•Written November 2024When will you know if the tour is confirmed? Because if I book the tour, I would also like to book the plane at the same time.
- Acacia Adventure HolidaysOperator•Written November 2024
We will know by Tuesday 19Nov.

Traveler•Written November 2024May I ask what would be the reason to cancel this tour so just a few weeks before the starting date?
- Acacia Adventure HolidaysOperator•Written November 2024
Normally the decision is because of too few people have booked on the departure.

Asked on September 7th, 2024Need to know where we would all meet at the start of the tour. Also is transferring from the airport at start and end of the trip
- Acacia Adventure HolidaysOperator•Written September 2024
The tour begins in Pretoria. The nearest airport is Johannesburg, we can arrange transfers (about 1 hour) and accommodation there if needed. At the end of the tour, some people like to end the trip on Zanzibar and spend another few days there...but the tour formally ends back in Dar es Salaam. Again we can arrange accommodation and airport transfers if needed.

Traveler•Written September 2024Need to know if all places would not be a 2 man dome tent. I need to have access to electricity to recharge a mini fridge for my medication. Also would like to know if all overnight stays are at least comfortable and it has its own bathroom facilities. Then again how much extra would that cost?
- Acacia Adventure HolidaysOperator•Written September 2024
The tour you have chosen uses some very rustic and simple accommodations in remote areas. Not all have private bathrooms and not all can guarantee overnight power supply. Indeed many will turn power off from around 10pm until early morning. This the nature of area the tour passes. I would suggest you focus on our 'Small group' tours which use higher standard accommodations and smaller vehicles (although even there we cannot guarantee all night electric supply.)

Asked on April 23rd, 2015What is the Adventure Pass?
- Acacia Adventure HolidaysOperator•Written April 2015
Every Overland tour has an Adventure Pass which is paid to your tour leader in Africa at the beginning of the tour (or pre-paid by arrangement prior to your tour). This is separate and in addition to the Tour Price, and covers selected park entries, activities and excursions along the way where payment goes directly to the supplier to ensure local suppliers benefit directly from the income.
