Itinerary
- Day 1
Quito to Lago Agrio
Your representative will pick you up from your Quito accommodation and drive you to the shuttle meeting point. From there, you'll board an overnight bus headed to Lago Agrio, arriving the following day.

Lago Agrio to Cuyabeno
After arriving in Lago Agrio, you'll travel to the Cuyabeno Reserve entrance where you'll complete registration and meet your naturalist guide. Once oriented, you'll board a canoe for your first journey down the Cuyabeno River, watching for birds and jungle wildlife along the way. By afternoon you'll reach Jamu Lodge to settle in. Later you can swim in the lagoon and catch the sunset before heading to dinner.

Cuyabeno
This morning brings a 3 to 4 hour guided hike through primary forest where your guide will point out rainforest ecology and medicinal plants. Back at camp you'll have lunch followed by a siesta during the hottest part of the day. The afternoon opens up for swimming in the lagoon, and if luck is on your side, you might spot pink river dolphins. After dinner, there's an optional nocturnal canoe ride to search for caimans before you head back to rest.

Tarapuy Community Visit
After breakfast, you'll take an hour-long canoe trip downriver to visit the Tarapuy community. There you'll learn how traditional cassava bread is prepared and get to participate in making it using forest materials. You'll return to the lodge by early afternoon for lunch and a siesta. Following dinner, you have the option to join a nocturnal primary forest hike to observe insects and take in the Amazon's night sounds.

Cuyabeno to Quito
Early morning starts with a birdwatching excursion before breakfast. Afterward, you'll board motorized canoes heading back to the Cuyabeno Reserve entrance, with chances to see birds, monkeys, and possibly anacondas. At the reserve entrance, you'll transfer to a shared bus for Lago Agrio and receive a box lunch for the ride. From there the bus continues to Quito where a representative meets you at the station and drives you back to your accommodation.
