Bergerac
You'll arrive in Bergerac and get oriented at your hotel where your bike will be waiting. After that, you can explore the historic city on foot, wandering through the charming streets and checking out local spots like the Maison des Vins to get a feel for the region's wine culture. This gives you a chance to settle in before heading out on the bike tomorrow.

Bergerac to St Sauveur
Today's a challenging ride with plenty of climbing. You'll head toward Les Cingles de Tremolat to catch the viewpoint, then continue on scenic routes through St Sauveur and the surrounding forests. The terrain is hilly but the views make it worthwhile. By evening you'll have covered some real distance through the Black Perigord.

Audrix to Les Eyzies
Start the morning with an easier route through Audrix, then the terrain changes as you cycle down to Le Bugue. From there you'll visit the Gouffre de Proumeyssac before arriving in Les Eyzies, which is basically the center for prehistoric discoveries in the region. Spend the afternoon and evening exploring the town and its museums. The Font de Gaume grotto is worth seeing if you have the energy after cycling.

Head out early this morning because you're doing a longer cycling day to make time for Lascaux 2 near Montignac. The original cave isn't open, but the replica is an exact reproduction and worth the trip. You'll pass through nice villages like St Leon sur Vezere on the way. After exploring the cave, cycle back to Les Eyzies for the night.

Landmarks Lascaux 2 Montignac St Leon sur Vezere - Day 5
Les Eyzies to Sarlat
Ride to Sarlat, a medieval town with cobbled streets and old stone buildings that really represents 14th-century France. The town grew around a large Benedictine abbey, and you'll get a sense of that history walking around. Your hotel sits right in the historical center, so you can explore the old town on foot after checking in.

Today's a rolling ride through quiet country roads with moderate hills. Stop by the Chateau of Monfort to see this notable site, then continue through the rural countryside. Later, cycle back to Sarlat using the bike path, which gives you a more relaxed pace to enjoy the landscape and wind down.

Landmarks Chateau of Monfort - Day 7
Sarlat to La Roque Gageac and Beynac
Cycle through several charming villages, including la Roque Gageac, which is officially labeled one of France's most beautiful villages. This cliffside village along the river has an exotic garden and an old troglodyte fort to explore. Just a few miles away is Beynac with its imposing castle that was actually besieged by Richard the Lion Heart. Both are worth stopping to see.
