Itinerary
- Day 1
Lima
Your Globus representative will greet you when you arrive in Lima. You'll get settled and oriented, and your Tour Director will catch up with the group on Day 5.
- Day 2
Amazon Jungle
Fly to Puerto Maldonado and transfer into Peru's Amazon Jungle. A motorboat takes you up the Madre de Dios River where you'll watch for exotic wildlife before reaching your jungle lodge. Meet your Naturalist guide and walk through primary and secondary rainforest on nature trails. At dusk, paddle a canoe down the river to learn about ecosystems, nocturnal animals, and the southern constellations.

Amazon Jungle
Guided nature walks and wildlife viewing fill your day in the Amazon. You'll journey through Tambopata National Reserve and paddle a dugout canoe around Lake Sandoval searching for giant river otters, macaws, and monkeys. This afternoon, walk across seven suspension bridges high above the rainforest canopy for toucans and sloths. After dark, head out with your Naturalist to find nocturnal animals active in the jungle.

Amazon Jungle
Start with a boat ride to a native farm where local farmers teach you ancient cultivation techniques and medicinal plant uses, plus you'll taste fresh produce. This afternoon, fish for piranha like indigenous communities do (weather dependent). Later, visit an Inland Clay Lick to watch wildlife from a blind without disturbing their natural routines.

Puerto Maldonado to Lima
Boat back to Puerto Maldonado while spotting monkeys, birds, and reptiles along the way. Fly to Lima where your Globus representative meets you and you officially meet your Tour Director.

Lima
Walk through Lima's colonial heritage with your Local Guide. Start at Plaza de Armas to see the Government Palace and cathedral, then stroll to the San Francisco Monastery with its 17th-century cloister murals. Stop at a local food market to see how Limeños shop and live daily life. Welcome dinner happens at Casa Garcia Alvarado, one of Lima's finest historic homes.

Sacred Valley
Fly to Cusco and head into the Sacred Valley of the Incas. You'll have a special lunch prepared exclusively for Globus guests, then participate in an El Pago a la Tierra (Mother Earth Ceremony) led by a local shaman. Continue to Pisaq, an old mountain village, where free time lets you browse the famous market for alpaca sweaters, jewelry, and painted dishes. Dinner happens at your hotel in the Sacred Valley.

Sacred Valley to Machu Picchu
Visit the Inca Fortress of Ollantaytambo and step inside a local family home to see life in the Sacred Valley firsthand. Board the Vistadome train for a scenic journey through the Urubamba Valley, then climb the mountainside to Machu Picchu. Your Local Guide explains the Lost City's secrets, from temples and holy houses to the mile-long aqueduct. Tonight, learn how to make the perfect Pisco Sour at a cooking demonstration before dinner.

Machu Picchu to Cusco
Wake early to watch sunrise over Machu Picchu with your second included entrance to the ruins. You'll explore at your own pace before crowds arrive. After lunch, return to the Sacred Valley by train and continue on to Cusco.

Cusco
Take a guided sightseeing tour of Cusco to learn about Inca and Spanish influences. Start at Plaza de Armas with the imposing Cathedral (construction started 1550, completed 100 years later), then visit Koricancha and Santo Domingo Monastery where Inca temple foundations sit beneath Spanish architecture. Continue to Kenko Temple with its stone altars and passages, Puca Pucara, and the hilltop Temple of Sacsayhuaman. The rest of your day is free. Dinner happens at a local restaurant.

Cusco to Puno
Fly to Juliaca and visit the pre-Incan burial ground of Sillustani, where ancient Aymaras buried high priests in chullpas, cylinder-shaped tombs from the 1400s. Spend time with local families to understand their way of life, then continue to Puno on the shores of Lake Titicaca, the world's highest navigable lake at 12,500 feet.

Taquile and Uros Islands
Take a motorboat to Lake Titicaca's unique islands. Visit Taquile Island, once part of the Inca Empire and one of the last areas Spain conquered in the 16th century, where traditional Spanish peasant dress is still worn today. Then head to the Uros Islands, home to the Uros Indians. Explore the manmade islands completely constructed of totora reeds, along with reed boats and homes.

Puno to Lima
Head to Juliaca this morning and catch your return flight to Lima.

Nazca
Drive south along the Pan-American Highway to the Bay of Paracas. Cruise out to the Ballestas Islands to see sea mammals and exotic birds including blue-footed boobies, sea lions, and Humboldt penguins. See the mysterious Candelabro etching on the Paracas cliffside. Continue to Pisco, Peru's wine capital. Board an aircraft to fly over the Nazca Plains, where mysterious geoglyphs from 500 BC cover the ground with over 10,000 lines depicting plants and animals. Dinner happens at your hotel.
